"Well, it's fixed. A learning experience ? get many bids and make sure the company wants your business. Pros ? Technicians were polite and respectful of my home while I worked in meetings all day. ? The pooling water issue in the basement was resolved, and the floor is now dry; the work was ultimately completed. ? Initial estimate visit was free, but not thorough ? Senior staff came out later to apologize and review the work. Cons ? Pricing was far higher than industry norms based on later bids. ? Avoidable scope changes and price increases after work began; two other plumbers said the job could have been done as originally quoted. ? Communication issues (delayed quotes, unclear explanations, forgotten site details). ? Work quality/finishing didn?t match the premium price; two professionals asked if we had done the work ourselves. Added pictures because I don't know plumbing, so you decide if you'd want this. ? Extra fees add up: 10% financing fee (Synchrony) and 4% credit card fee."

"It went great. Bob arrived right on time and went right to work. Install was fast and clean, and he explained why the drain in our utility sink was leaking and not up to code. That repair was done efficiently. We received the senior/veteran discount, and pricing was exactly as expected."

""We did everything right." You can be the judge of that. Here's the story: After my heat was out for five days in early January, Columbia Heating came and fixed the pilot light. Three days later, an estimator from Rose City Heating came to give my landlord a quote. When he left, the pilot light (which had been recently fixed) was no longer working. I had no luck fixing it myself. A Rose City Heating repair person (named Paul) came that night and didn't look at the pilot light. He came to give me a space heater. I was then without heat for another several days of winter, and I was told to block out 8-11am plus 4-6 hours for installation of a new unit. That was rescheduled, I believe it was the same day, to closer to noon. When they arrived, I asked: can you first check to see if you can fix the pilot light? Repairperson Paul (who was doing the installation) said "that's not what the landlord authorized." Even though, when I spoke to the Landlord the next day, he said "did they even try to fix the pilot light, first?" No they didn't...not during the night Paul came over, nor the day he came back for install. **On installation day, it took barely 2-3 hours to 'complete' the installation job. That should've been the first hint of something being wrong. Sorry I can't attached the pictures, look on YELP or Google -bottom door of the unit wasn't able to close because Repairperson Paul said we would need to cut the floor (not true) -shows the cover on top of the unit, which was about to fall off The pilot light was making noises several times an hour (7-9 click click click click click click 'light') and I asked Repairperson Paul about this. He said it was going to happen now since I don't have a constant pilot light any more. I asked if he could make it happen less, and he said no. Over the course of the next five days, the heater made hundreds of loud noises at all hours. EVERY 18 minutes, the following noises ensued: (Sample Timeframe) 10:33 pilot light clicks on (this is a series of 7-8 clicks before it lights) 10:37 “wahh” noise 10:39 ‘whirring’ noise 20 seconds 10:41 ‘whirring’ noise for 15 seconds 10:43 ‘whirring’ noise for20 seconds 10:43 – 10:46 “clanking and whirring noise’ 10:52 pilot light clicks on (7-8 series of clicks) Whole cycle repeats 11:10 Pilot light clicks on (7-8 clicks) Whole cycle repeats And on and on. This is hundreds of noises per day, emanating from the middle of my apartment, there is no escaping. The unit looks very similar to the previous unit, which only made noise while heating the air. It did not make any other noises. These noises were extraordinarily disruptive from a brand new unit. Rose City Heating then wisely sent Repair & Installation person Pat over and he spent 3.5 hours fixing the job that his colleague had done on the install (Note: The electric is still very messy, they said that would take a month to fix) Pat even adjusted the thermostat so that the pilot light only clicks on less than a dozen times per day, instead of 3-5x an hour (96+ times per day) HOWEVER, as soon as Pat left, the heating unit no longer worked and I was without heat another 1/2 day and night. Turns out, Pat had accidentally flicked the switch to "off" when re-caulking the left side of the unit. He fixed it and said "wasn't this great customer service?" True, he and Paul are super nice guys. But the best customer service would be to not have lost heat again after hours and hours (and days) were spent on this unit by your team. My landlord and I have had to cancel countless commitments to be available for huge time windows and noise in my home. The reason he opted for the new unit was to avoid the headache that dealing with the old unit may have caused. Due to the installation procedures, significantly more headaches and hours of time investment have been incurred by us both. ***No discount was given, in fact, the 'accidentally' added a cost they hadn't mentioned during the original quote. I do not recommend Rose City Heating."

"this is my second review. I am totally confused by this company. If I could add to my first review I would. This is what happened: I contacted them to come out to a rental property to fix a run on toilet. They came out and I was told the toilet was fixed. When I received the bill months later it had been sent through my lawyer of my trust even though I had given them my address, they went online to find the owner of the property etc. So they did not keep a record of my address or phone number that I had given them. (this ties in later). On the bill it said, leaky faucet. I called them and said I wish they had called me when they were AT the property as there is always a fee to just show up - they could have fixed the faucet WHILE they were there. Tony (or Kyle, but I think it was tony) said so sorry and he would go back out and fix it and even throw in the faucet (that he has at the office) to make that up to me. I said well, thank you but will it fit that old sink? He said to email photos of the sink. I did. I then emailed many more times and called many times and never heard back. So I came in to angies list to right my first review. THEN Tony called. He apoligized and told me how many properties they manage well and they wanted to make it up to me. I had by this time ordered the correct faucet so they went out to install it at no charge. They sent a "bill" for $750 (but no charge) and it showed many other items they did for free that were kind of vague to me but I am not a plumber - like teaching the tenants how to use the kitchen faucet without it making a humming noise (I didnt know it did that or why). But I thought ok, good. It's all fixed. Then I emailed them again months later and reported that there was a leak in the basement and I sent photos of the leak of the pipes above the clothes washing machine to be very clear what work needed to be done. Tony wrote me back about what he suspects the leak in the basement is from and an estimate on the cost to clean out that pipe etc - I agreed and CC-ed my new (second floor) tenant so they could work out when to go back out and get access to basement. THEN my new tenant informs me the toilet is leaking. I check in with previous tenant and say, I thought that was fixed? - and I was informed "partly, the plumbers had said they'd come back out with some chain part but never did" - I reported this to Tony and said, while you are there can you also finish up the work on the toilet upstairs. He arranges a time with my tenant. I get the bill and it charges me again $175 to fix the toilet (now third time working in that bathroom and I was charged for the visit and the work twice but whatever, hopefully now the toilet is finally fixed once and for all). THEN i get the bill and it only mentions the toilet repair. No mention of the reason I had emailed tony - about the leak in the basement. I pull up the email to Tony and his response and send it to him and say, what about the lack in the basement?. - AND HIS RESPONSE IS: "The tenant didn’t mention anything and I personally entered your last service call to make sure we didn’t screw up" - I said, scroll down in this very email! He then offered to go back out and check the leak in the basement now. So three trips to fix the toilet. Got other random free stuff and now I have to call them out AGAIN to check the leak in the basement that has been now going for 2 months...What more can i do to be clear? I honestly think they are trying to do a good job but have ZERO office staff and their communication lines in the office and also between the office and the men on the site are terrible. They have no communication with the guys they send out there. I'd LOVE to find a reliable plumber but I don't know how to help them anymore. I literally can't be any clearer. UPDATE: One year later the toilet was not working AGAIN. Some issues. It was never fixed. I called Sutherland Plumbing and Shawn replaced the toilet. UGH."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Rhododendron, OR

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
