"Over a 2 year project, the vendor installed windows in the main living room area and in the basement area. <br /> Vendor took old window material with them upon leaving the project. <br /> We learned that vendors performing this type of work tried to ensure that husband and wife were available for the quote process. <br /> This is a very unfortunate way to conduct business as it leads to a spouse having to take off work early without pay and stood firm that this is not how the process would go. <br /> Don't let the vendor bully you into buying that which you can not afford. <br /> Don't let the office people lead you to believe that every time the company offers a product that you must waste your time for a sales pitch. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"<p>Rectify first came out and assessed our needs.  We had thought we might like to put solar panels on the roof of our house and our garage.  There were several different options offered and the sales person assisted us in deciding to only put solar panels on our house roof for the time being.  Rectify installed the panels on our roof and wired them into the house electrical system fast and efficiently.  But installing the panels was just the beginning.  The customer service Rectify gave us included leading us through the maze of permits and contracts necessary to have a working solar system.  They obtained electrical and construction permits.  They assisted us in applying to Indianapolis Power and Light for permission to hook into the IPL grid and in the contract with IPL for net metering necessary for feeding electricity back to the grid.  They also gave us advice on selling the Renewable Energy Certificates that we are entitled to by generating solar power.  Our solar array can be monitored through the internet.  After the installation was complete Rectify came to the house and set up our account (which is more complicated than it sounds).  The bottom line is we are very pleased with the system that Rectify installed but are extremely impressed with the customer service they gave us through the whole process.  They are also very nice people.  It was just a pleasure to deal with them.</p> <br />"

"I had tremendous water damage in my basement and had to take out all my studded walls in my basement because it was finished. When we had taken all the walls out all the electrical stuff was just hanging, so Jerry North came in with his crew and fixed part of it to start with and then he came back and redid some more things. I didn’t have my light fixtures to put up for the last part of it. All the electrical stuff is so messed up. He has done numerous things for me like he redid receptacles. He has had to take out like old wiring and put in new wiring. I had a problem with my dishwasher and he rewired that. He has redone my fuse box in the basement. He clamped it up really well. He has a new front cover ordered for that. He even rewired my furnace. I spent around $800 for the last job he did. He has done numerous things and it is hard to list them all but he has done a really nice job for me."

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Servia, IN

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
