"We contacted Matt to demolish a very old deck and build a new Trex composite deck, stairs and railing. The entire base support structure of the old deck needed to be replaced, including attachment points to the home that were rotted due to poor design and flashing of the prior deck. When looking for a contractor we researched many options. We eliminated contractors who seemed to only occasionally build a deck, those who had a different primary focus area, and those who did not often do composite decking. After then reading his positive reviews across AngliesList, Facebook, & Google, and seeing photos of many projects that appeared to be the type of work we were looking for, we reached out. Communication was excellent from the initial quote through completion of the project. The quality of the work and attention to detail was excellent. "Initial Interview: Went very smoothly. Bill is very friendly and easy to talk to. This work is new to me. He explained the scope of the damage - very pitted from decades of salt, some cracks, and damaged front edge. I knew it was in bad shape. He explained the repairs that were required, and they required extra attention/work. We added my front porch (concrete) to the job. The garage is about 25 x 20 feet, 500 square feet. He left and I soon received an estimate for the work. I had done my homework and his quote was close to my guesstimate, so I felt it was a fair price. Note - this included a promotion discount offered thru Angie's List. I would have cringed if I had had to pay the full price. We also discussed the finish of the epoxy - the flakes being added. Bill texted some photos to illustrate light, medium, and heavy flaking. He made recommendations and readily accepted my different decisions. I was advised the work would span 2 days and then the epoxy needed drying time - 24 hours before anything could be placed on it, 72 hours before parking the car.

Work Crew: A two man crew came Monday and Tuesday mornings. They were friendly and I enjoyed meeting the men who would fix my garage floor. Bill was also there at the start each morning. Monday we signed the contract and we made our final detail points on the project; including that the garage door needed to remain open until the evening. There will be a final step in a couple weeks, a clear coat finish will be applied after the epoxy has thoroughly dried.

I was surprised when he came with the contract that the payment was to be paid in full at the commencement of the job. I understand that this is an Angie's List procedure. The contract notes that the funds will be held in an escrow account. This make sense, given paying for services before they are completed. My guess is that Bill will remember this comment and notify people ahead of time in the future.

Initial Review Of The Work: The floor and porch look great! The repairs, especially to the front edge are very good. There was NO debris/garbage left for me to dispose. They had placed empty Quikrete (?-or similar) boxes in a large garbage bag after Monday's work, outside the garage. The bag was gone Tuesday. I know they had to have had empty epoxy containers! This was a nice surprise - you know how contractors tend to leave debris behind for us to dispose of. Everything was cleaned up!

I like the work and professionalism of Bill and his team. He is easy to talk with when discussing the project. This was new to me and I was comfortable with his responses. He made no attempt to upsell, which I appreciate.  I definitely recommend him.

"Drake and Vincent did a fantastic job sanding the treads, the banister, and the landing of my staircase! The staircase has an elegant design so it was crucial that the sanding be done by highly skilled and detailed oriented carpenters: Drake and Vincemnt both proved to be just that! "Work performed: Roof replacement Date: June 2020 Amount: $15,000 We chose Exceptional Exteriors after getting two bids, based on their excellent Angie’s List ratings, the professionalism shown by Daryl when I met with him to review the project, and that their bid was lower. I also appreciated that his crew was experienced and most of them had been working together for years. The project was a large house tearoff of five layers of roof, and it involved several sections of roof, from the main roof, to a porch, an addition, and a bay window. Daryl was prompt in replying to my questions and in communications about the schedule leading up to the start date. The crew arrived at 7:30/8am each morning. I met and liked each of the roofers in a six-person team led by Glenn, who kept the team well organized. As a very experienced roofer who loves the work, Glenn also performed some of the more challenging parts of the job, including a very detail-demanding reroofing of a near-flat area of our roof that had been a source of leaks in the past. His works looks great, and I am confident it will do the job for a good, long time! Overall, we are very satisfied with the new roof. The crew worked hard everyday despite some very hot days with temperatures into the 90’s. I did keep a table in the garage with snacks and iced beverages for them, and they were appreciative. They also replaced facia coverings that had been ripped down in windstorms, and these look nice too. One key aspect of any roof replacement is cleanup. I would rate their cleanup effort as solid. They cleaned up the yard at the end of each day. For a few days after their work, I still found small bits of old roof debris in a few vegetated areas around the house, but it’s nothing I wouldn’t expect and I don’t feel it’s anything major. Speaking of plants, the crew did a nice job protecting the plants around our house, and we have alot of ornamental plantings, large and small. In summary, I would hire Exceptional Exteriors again, and I would recommend them to others considering roof replacement or other exterior work."
