"Tracy was friendly and informative. He located the source of our energy drain and gave us an excellent price. The HVAC specialist that had come out before TVT Home Inspection had told us that one of our air conditioners was faulty and we wanted that verified before we replaced it. Tracy told us the same thing that the HVAC specialist had said so we felt like we could proceed, confident that it was our air conditioner that was responsible for the extreme hike in our energy bill. I would highly recommend Tracy and TVT home inspection service if you have concerns about energy usage in your home."

",After dealing with another solar company, we fired them and went with Golden West Energy.  Their engineer Hal came out and assessed our needs, we gave them our KWH usage for the year and they went back and promptly emailed us with a drawing of how the solar panels would be placed on our roof, how the electrical would hook up to our panel box, and the cost. It was quick, honest and very detailed.. WE HAD NO SALES PITCH WHICH WE GOT FROM EVERY OTHER SOLAR COMPANY WE INTERVIEWED. I was concerned about the tile roof. Scott, the owner, determined that due to the possible breakage and the fact that the underlayment of the existing room was 30 years old the tile would be removed, new tar paper and composite shingles would be laid down. Once that was done, the brackets for the panels were installed then the panels and then the tile were put back around the panels,so there is complete continuity of tile work with a new roof underneath. The panels look totally integrated into the tile.
Once that was done, they hooked up the electric to our panel box which required some rearrranging. Again, Scott and his crew did a terrific job of running lines in flexible conduit and then painted it to match the tile and the walls of our home. It is barely noticeable.
Once completed Golden West arranged for the city inspector to review the work, it passed with flying colors.
We had to wait for SDGE to reprogram our system, which took a couple of days but once done, they told us to flip the switch which we did and  our meter is running backward, plus I go into the SDGE web site and see the graph showing our savings.
I have recommended Golden West to three neighbors in our complex who are interested in installing solar energy.
One of the supervisors in our complex used Golden West eight years ago for solar energy and he was very pleased with his results.
I liked the fact that Golden West Energy has been around since 1985. That is a great track record,
Golden West is the only company I would use for my solar energy needs.

"We are a large family, and require heating and air conditioning, HVAC, throughout the year. At the same time, we were looking for a solution that would not cost us an arm and leg. So without hesitation, we consulted with Charlie from Landmark Energy Upgrades. Charlie, was referred to us by my sister in law that used them in the past for a similar work. Landmark Energy Upgrades really proved to be energy efficiency experts and audited our home thoroughly while patiently answering our questions. They not only made us aware of the total energy consumption, but also how we can cut down the utility bills. Charlie and his team have been accommodating in finding the right solution for us while totally staying within our estimate.

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Spring Valley, CA

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
