"Joe, the AirCo sales representative, was very professional. He actually asked for my feedback on priorities for a new boiler. This was important to me because the boiler sits below our family room, and the noise level of the boiler was as issue. His proposals listed several boiler options, based on heating efficiency, which were competitively priced. The installation was run by Steve, who was able to fit in the installation the next week. Steve, and his crews, were punctual and courteous, and the installation went smoothly. It's only been a week, but I am very pleased with my Bosch boiler, the quality of the work, the price paid, and the timeliness of the installation."

"We moved into a house that was built in 1949 (with minimal updating) and wanted to get an understanding of the sources of energy loss in our home.  Additionally, we just had a leaky roof replaced and wanted to understand the full extent of moisture damage to our ceilings and walls.  I contacted Flemming who responded promptly, provided an estimate and setup a time to come out and conduct the audits.  He provided directions for setting the thermostat the evening before to maximize the learnings.   <br /> On the day of the audit, he arrived on time and was very courteous and got right to work on a comprehensive assessment.  He went into all accessible areas, addressed specific areas of concern and provided explanations in the moment that were very helpful.  The moisture analysis turned out to be very positive.  He utilized a combination of infrared and handheld moisture analyzer, and paid particular attention to areas where we had known leaks.  Even though he had quoted me two prices, one for the energy and one for the moisture audit, Flemming noted the moisture audit was significantly less severe than anticipated and reduced our overall charge.  <br /> After the visit, he provided a wonderful report that detailed all rooms with pictures, the results of the blower door air test and corresponding explanations and suggestions.  His report will be invaluable as we plan energy improvements.  In addition to our known areas of concern, he identified several additional hard to find areas (with easy fixes!) where there was very poor sealing that if remedied, will provide dramatic comfort improvements.  He also found a pinhole gas leak which previous inspectors missed on our hot water heater. <br /> Overall, Flemming was wonderful.  He took time during his evaluation to explain his observations and his report is detailed and will help us as we upgrade the insulation in our home.  We are very pleased we had Flemming out and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to get an in-depth understanding of their homes energy status. <br />"

"Love the whole team at Energy Monster! Jim did a very thorough Mass Save Audit for us and helped us figure out why our house was so cold in the winter (zero insulation in our 1870s walls!) and helped us set up having Pat and his insulation crew come out to make things right. Everyone was professional, efficient, and kind. The insulation crew finished in half the time I thought they needed, wrapping up early each day and cleaning everything up so there was almost no evidence they had been there! And our house feels warmer and quieter already -- amazing! Also a special thank you to Tawny and Courtney at the office -- they very quickly resent the knob & tube form that my electrician needed to sign when I couldn't find the original PDF in my email. They were professional and helpful when I was panicking. Thank you! I really love working with this company, and I look forward to having them come back to install mini-splits and solar panels! Thanks, Energy Monster."

"Adam Morrison came to our home to give us an energy assessment at our request. He was very personable and professional. He shared a lot of information, walked me through the various links on the Mass Save site and helped us change over our electric supplier. He also tested our furnace and water heater for efficiency, changed our shower head and our faucet aerators. On top of all that, he gave us 2 advanced power strips and installed a new thermostat. He also sent the necessary information to the office to help line us up for the next step of acquiring energy saving appliances, furnace, water heater etc. We found Adam to be a pleasure to deal with. He saved us a lot of precious time and money because of his expertise. I would absolutely use his services again and highly recommend him!"

"Great experience with this company. Interviewed three other companies. I worked with David at SumZero --and decided to go with them because he took the time to understand what I needed. Their pricing is very competitive and transparent. So you don't have to guess as to what is not included-- something that can't be said of some of the other companies I interviewed. I also liked that David made it easy for me to understand the technical jargon which ultimately gave me confidence that the final system configuration was best suited for our needs. He was very flexible throughout the entire process from start to finish. David also ensured the system qualified for the MassSave 0% energy loan and maximized the available rebates--which he is helping me to secure. The crew they sent out to install the system was very pleasant, respectful of our home, and very hard working. When the system was tested and ready to go online, SumZero had a technician onsite to show us how to operate the system. We love the Mitsubishi mini split system--it is amazing. Great experience from start to finish with SumZero. Totally recommend them without reservation."

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Sudbury, MA

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
