"Promptly returned email regarding service request, on Saturday. Responded same day to repair 2Ton Geo unit (Waterfurnace). Extremely knowable on geo-thermal systems, the repairs were made in timely manner at a fair price, my only regret on this geo unit is I should have had Continental install the system in the first place, it’s seems very likely I would not be haveing the maintenance issues."

"Jim is local.  It went great. Jim Ferrell is a professional of the highest caliber. Responded quickly, took care of my problems, and advised me as to better means of protection than I had. He came back a second time to uninstall software that I purchased that did not provide adequate protections and installed free software that would do the job.  He did the work through remote connection, but is available on site if necessary.
For those people needing help on getting red of malware, viruses , etc. on your computer,  Jim is local, better than all thse remote out of state location providers, is a mature, highly trained professional in this area.
If you go to local computer stores you get very young people that can do a basic job, but are no where near the professional level of Jim.
I highly recommend Jim to anyone that needs these type services.

"As above, signed up for the Energy Audit, which is normally a $400 deal (they will come in and inspect everything, swap out your incandescent bulbs with cfl's, wrap any exposed pipes, put aerators on your faucets, etc.)  In addition, they will do a detailed insulation analysis for your house, and also do a blower test to see how much air leakage you have.  As it was explained to me by the individual who showed up, the "EmPower MD" fund you get charged on your BG&E bill goes to a fund which offsets the cost of this inspection, and also gives you a rebate on the work you have done.
First thing, before they even show up, they request the last 12 months of your power bills.  Cool.  However, in my case, I had to provide it twice, as they had some problems with internal communications.  Okay.  Second problem, we made an appointment for 31 December, and it was confirmed by them with me twice.  The 31st arrives, they don't show up.  I called, and they "had no record of the appointment" despite having confirmed it a day or two before.  Okay, rescheduled for a few days later, and then the appointment happened.
So, the guy finally shows up, and things go great.  He looks over the house, top to bottom, takes 2+ hours, inspects all the lights, faucets, pipes, layout of the house, everything.  We talk at length about eh attic and what needs to be done, and he does the blower test.  He then goes though the house and replaces a bulb or two, plus installs some aerators (we had converted over everything to cfl already, pipes were already wrapped, so as he said, we were "ahead of the game").  He then departed, and we made an appointment for the inspection analysis about 10 days later.
The report appointment arrives, and the rep shows up on time.  We sit down and go through a detailed analysis of my house vs. and average house vs. an efficient house.  We spend a long time going over the report, what needs to be done, other potential energy saving measures (new windows, caulk, etc.), the whole deal.  I get a quote for them to do the work, and the whole rebate issue is explained, along with payment schedules.  All my questions were answered, and the report / quote I was given was very detailed.
I am very happy with the cost of the service and the product that was delivered.

"Overall, very well, although it took two additional visits to first troubleshoot and then adjust the original installation of the new pump. Originally the new pump was installed with a temperature-controlled on/off switch but it turned out that that was not workable for the configuration of my plumbing. Therefore, a programmable timer had to be installed instead. This was very straightforward, simply a matter of swapping out the temperature module wired to the pump with a timer module and replacing the thermal check valve under the farthest sink left over from the non-working pump with a new one."

"I was able to schedule an appt very quickly the initial time and the electrician, Danny, communicated with both myself and my tenant, as it was a rental property and arranged a time to stop by that was good for my tenant. The outlet suddenly started working before Danny arrived so when he got there he explained to me that he just made some minor repairs since he didn't know what to do because it wasn't broken at the time. About 10 days later, my tenant called and said that the outlet malfunctioned again. I contacted the company and explained to the person (whom I assume is the owner or manager) what happened and he contacted Danny and was able to get him out shortly after. Danny said he replaced the breaker for me as well as did some other things, which I was kind of lost due to the jargon. Anyway, they said that there will not be a charge the second time, which I really appreciate. Overall, great communication from both the manager/dispatcher as well as the technician, Danny. And they seem like they really wanted to help me resolve the situation as opposed to milking me for more money. This type of honesty in any business is a rarity nowadays."

"Choice was fast, efficient, and kept me posted on the progress of the claim. Although the water leak issue was discovered on a Friday, they had a plumber there to investigate by Saturday morning. When it was determined that the 20+ year old heater needed to be replaced, the replacement ordered, on-site, and installed by Wednesday morning. I am glad that we opted for the Choice Ultimate plan as other than the initial $65 service fee, all but one $50 ancillary expense was covered."

"There was only one hang up. When I contacted them through e-mail I indicated that I wanted to talk about installing an antique wood burning stove in addition to the chimney inspection and cleaning. The appointment was made for the afternoon on a certain day. But, the guys called that morning and left a message on my voicemail saying they could come early. I did not get the voicemail and they showed up early anyway. I was not home but my mother was there. Unfortunately, these guys did not get the word from the scheduler in the office that I wanted to talk about the installation of the wood burning stove in addition to having the chimney cleaned. So they came did they work and left. I called the workers back (since I had their phone number from the voicemail) and communicated my annoyance at the schedule change. The guy was very apologetic and offered to come back though he was no longer available at the scheduled time which I had blocked off on my calendar.
However, we ended up talking about the project over the phone and he was able to give me all the information I needed about the potential installation over the phone. He was very knowledgable and helpful. So, I'd like to give them a "B" for punctuality though that doesn't seem to really fit the situation. So they get all As despite this little hitch.

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Unionville, MD

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
