"I was very happy with my experience using this company. In the middle of a heat wave, right before the July 4th holiday, my AC stopped working. The man who installed it and had been servicing it was too busy to come for a week. I called MSD and was given an appointment for 8 AM the next morning. They were prompt and courteous, fixed my problem, and were reasonably priced. I will be calling them in the future."

"Kevin was great! The rest of the company not so much. Kevin diagnosed the problem immediately as the thermostat, had a replacement in the truck, and completed the installation of the new unit quickly. He showed me how to program the updated version, and everything seemed to be fine - until the next morning. Turned out the replacement was defective. When I called, I was told that they might not be able to get back to me that day, but Kevin interrupted his schedule to come back and put in a new (and working) unit at no charge."

"From the initial proposal and questions with Kevin to the installation with Mike and Milt, the professionalism and knowledge sharing was remarkable. To have the owner, Kevin, involved was a key influence in decision, as was our neighbors high positive regard for Ryan & Co. The installation was efficient. Mike and Milt were so organized and kept things neat and clean. They paid attention to detail and fixed the ancillary to the main system where needed. High quality all around. The system is in and can’t wait to see how it works, especially through the tricky up and down temps of the fall season. Farewell to the 35 yr old system."

"Diego is very professional, responsive, trustworthy and respectful. Very easy to work with. He came to fix our 2 AC units (leaks) and replaced our kitchen faucet. He answered our questions, explained things clearly, did his work thoroughly and cleaned everything up. He even took the time to clean our 2 AC units. Would definitely hire and recommend him for any cooling, heating and plumbing work in the future."

"I had a hose bib outside that was older and began leaking.  I read the positive reviews and called Rob for the job.   He replaced the hose line and also placed a shutoff valve inside the house.  Great work, very professional.  Will use again for any jobs needed."

"OverAll Plumbing and Heating is the epitome of a blue chip contractor and it starts with Sam as the Project Manager along with Louay and his team of Sebastian and Melvin. Sam was excellent, visiting us promptly to give us an honest and decent quote to replace 2 furnaces along with an A/C unit. His expertise is obvious as he immediately charted what he would do, what the cost would be and for how long. He was spot on with all 3 tenets. And his team showed why this is a top notch group. The were efficient, friendly and followed up each install by testing and cleaning up accordingly. Sam and OPHC have a customer for life and I've touted him to friends and family. This team is the GOLD STANDARD of what a contractor should be. Angi is lucky to have him listed as it reflects the quality of contractors that it presents to customers. Kudos Sam, Louay, Sebastian and Melvin. Great work, Tony"

"Things went great! Moe assessed the problem with each of the toilets in my home. He looked at the first toilet and determined the entire mechanism inside the tank (float and flapper) needed to be replaced. The second toilet was an easy fix so he did that free of charge. The third toilet he determined only needed a handle, which I told him I could replace myself once I went to purchase the correct handle. So, he completed the repair on the first toilet and as a new customer he honored the 15% of coupon for Angie's List members. I was a little disappointed that a new toilet mechanism with labor costs $175. However, based on my research this price is about $20 cheaper than the average cost to repair a toilet. And the 15% discount ($26.25) also helped to ease my sticker shock. I would recommend Cross County as well as use them again."

"Shai was very friendly and gave us the best price. His team worked on installation in a day and everything was functioning smoothly thereafter. We did have a concern about pipe placement and when I texted him about it, he answered right away and ensured he'd remediate the issue. He was always available by phone, text and email for scheduling. The pipe was moved with condenser. Everything looks good. Thank you!"

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Wayne, NJ

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
