"5 stars!! Their pricing was the most competitive, and their communication was outstanding! Had our THOW insulated with closed cell spray foam and they did an awesome job from the very beginning of the process until the end. Would highly recommend!"

"We had an energy audit done by Kyle Farrell in mid-September, and due to an alleged broken phone, this audit was not fully completed until the end of October. We tried multiple times to reach out and get ahold of Kyle, but he does not respond to messages or answer his phone. When we finally got him to come finish the audit (we had to go through the main company's page to complain to get a response) he told me he trashed his phone playing golf, and that they were "really busy" with other jobs as an excuse. Mind you, this was over a month after the initial audit visit. He then promised us his "window guy" would reach out to start the process to give us a quote. It has been days and we have heard nothing. We were having the audit done to take advantage of tax credits, which expire this year. We lost a month to get the work done due to Kyle's poor time management skills & failure to respond, and we will likely miss out on the tax credit as the timeline is too short. Would not recommend. "

Customers say: Quick response

"We recently had York Home Performance complete an insulation upgrade at our home, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, their team was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly efficient. Chris and Garnett were great. Chris took the time to evaluate our home's needs and walked us through the entire process so we knew exactly what to expect. One of the most impressive parts of the experience was how he helped us find excellent discounts that we didn’t even know were available. Thanks to his expertise, we were able to take advantage of local utility incentives that significantly reduced the overall cost—making the project extremely affordable. The quality of the insulation work itself was top-notch. Our home is noticeably more comfortable, and we know we will see a difference in our energy bills. It's rare to find a company that combines great workmanship with outstanding customer service and affordability, but York Home Performance delivered on all fronts"

"The company deserves 1000 stars l. Chris came and gave a well thorough inspection and estimate of my actic. Had my concerns and expectations, I had several other companies come and give quotes for double the price. Especially ORKIN. Orkin tried to use care tactics to sign contract without any explanation. Chris gave the quote and the crew arrived a week later as scheduled. Chris has a great work crew who were professional , caring, and did high quality work. Every step of the way, I was communicated and was filled in. I was shown before , during and after photos. And end results were UNBELIEVABLE Chris is fair and honest, he gives reasonable prices and will not take advantage of his customers."

"Great! Professional, patient and they do outstanding work. Although MSSI was more expensive than the other 3 companies from whom we received quotes, the extra money was more than worth it given their willingness to walk us through the process and respond to our many questions. Although I think I'm pretty well educated, I would highly recommend that a potential solar customer work with MSSI and pay the extra money--it'll save time and frustration in the long-run. An additional perk is that this is a woman-owned, US military veteran-owned company."

"We purchased a unit in 2021 to find out later that we were sold a unit that had been discontinued in 2020. The unit was loud and from 2023 to 2025 this discontinued unit has cost an extra $4500 with a maintenance plan. Replacement parts would take 4 wks to get in because the unit was discontinued and parts were not readily available. The ladies in the office were always most helpful and the technicians were always on time. When I asked why the parts took so long... it was never mentioned about the unit being discontinued. I asked the salesman for the best, quiet unit available because I want it to last the usual 10 - 15 years. Unfortunately that did not happen. Dishonesty."

FAQs for home energy audit projects in White Hall, MD

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
