"My family recently purchased a home that is 10 years old and during the inspection, an issue came up with the safety mechanism that keeps the garage door from closing down on an obstruction (like your car, kid, or pet). I called ABC Garage and the customer service was very thorough in explaining that older models to not have that feature, so she walked me through the various models and pricing in case we wanted to replace the unit. We have young kids, so I knew we'd probably want to go with the upgrade. The day of the service call, the technician arrived promptly and verified that the current system was old enough that it didn't have this safety feature. We discussed the options again (he had all three models in his van) and he installed it promptly. When that was completed, he also showed how the garage door itself could use to be adjusted so it made less noise when opened. I was happy to pay the additional fee to get that resolved. All told, it was a very positive experience - professional, thorough, friendly, and timely. There is a 5-year warranty on the unit and 1-year labor warranty, but I expect this product to last much longer in the future."

"When American Jewel installed the door I gave them A grades as I thought they did an excellent job.  But after using the door for a few weeks I noticed the dead bolt didn't close completely, but only about 2/3, and also noticed the screen door was no longer aligned properly, so although it closed and looked right, the door was slightly off and it would no longer lock.  I called American Jewel and they scheduled the installer to return and make the minor corrections.  The installer did not show up.  When I called American Jewel again, they did not return my calls. I complained to Angie's List, and via their complaint resolution process American Jewel contacted me.  They were very apologetic and attributed it to a mix up, accepted responsibility and sent the installer to my home to make the minor corrections.  I would use American Jewel again, despite this hiccup, as my wife and I like the door they installed, feel we received excellent value, and ultimately American Jewel followed through on the minor problems I described and corrected them all."

"I wasn't sure what I needed so Ben accompanied me to Home Depot and helped me select my front doors. He spent a long amount of time with me and the Home Depot representative in an effort to get me a quality door at a reasonable price. He knew I was concerned about security as well as curb appeal and made sure that he accomplished both efficiently and professionally. I wanted my back door to have the glass inside the wood versus on the outside (eliminating the need to clean each and every pane) and he special ordered the door for me. Now I only have to clean one large pane! I have an older home and it required a bit of finagling to get the doors to fit in just right but that is one of Ben's specialties and he did a fantastic job. He responded to all of my calls politely and quickly. I felt very comfortable calling him wih any questions. He also made suggestions to me which I found very helpful. Another plus is that Ben did an excellent job cleaning up each time which was great. While this job was certainly not his most challenging, he never made me feel that I was wasting his time with a small job, which some contractors do.
