"I have had a service contract with McCrea Heating and Cooling since I purchased my condo unit new 7 1/2 years ago which included 2 maintenance visits a year. My current contract expired yesterday so I called to renew my service contract and upgrade from "Bronze" to "Silver." The representative took my charge card information over the phone. I asked if the contract was in effect as of today. They said "yes." Then I tried to schedule a service call (my unit was serviced a little over a month ago and now the condo wasn't cooling.) I was told then that the Silver Contract would NOT be in effect after all. The difference in price between Bronze and Silver is the cost of a diagnostic visit so they were getting the money one way or another. My long time history with the company did not persuade them to honor the contract I had just paid for. They wanted to charge me $98 to have my problem diagnosed under the Bronze contract that I pointed out was already expired. I was told the representative "misspoke" and should have told me they would have to send out someone to determine whether the furnace they have been maintaining for the past 7 years (with the most recent service call just a month ago) would "qualify" for the Silver plan. So, I cancelled the order for the Silver Plan. I called another company who came out for $30 and determined the problem was a clogged condensation drain. This drain was supposed to have been "blown out" when the regular maintenance was done by McCrea just a month ago, but obviously was not. The water was backed up in the drain pipe and filled the pan under the furnace/AC unit which turned off the AC. Now that everything is working again, I am seeking a different maintenance service plan provider. McCrea has competitive service contract prices, but if they have no customer loyalty, and the maintenance work is not done properly, maybe it's a question of "you get what you pay for.""

"Danny treated me like an old friend with helpful and timely service. It was refreshing. He inspected the unit, found a failed capacitor caused by an add-on Michael and Sons installed last inspection. Danny replaced the failed part, removed the add-on, and I was back in business in less than 30 minutes. I have a new HVAC provider!"

"The team arrived with A/C units that were the wrong size. To their credit, they were able to locate the right sized units and have them delivered to the house. I did have to re-sign quote paperwork though and I ended up having to pay more than what was originally quoted even though it wasn't my fault that wrong sized systems showed up. It wasn't alot more, but still. The install crew worked really hard and got the systems installed that same day and it is working much better than the old system which was on its last legs. However, I had asked them if they checked the airflow in each room and was told that the airflow in each room was good. I had also told the crew about a broken ceiling vent in my son's room and was told it would be looked at and fixed. After the crew left and the A/C came on, I went room to room to check the airflow coming from the vents and that's when I discovered that there is very little air coming from the vent in my uppermost bedroom and in both vents in the living room. I contacted my point of contact (POC) at McCrea about this situation and he told me that we are waiting on a response from the installation manager - that was 3 days ago. Also, I was told that the financing paperwork that the crew gave me to sign was all that I needed to do and McCrea would take care of the rest. However, the day after the install, I was contacted and told that I needed to go to their website and fill out a form for financing. When I told the POC about it he was like, "Yeah, go to the website and fill out the form". No apologies for the miscommunication or anything. The positive is that the installation crew was professional and worked really hard to get both systems installed in a shortened time frame due to the snafu with having wrong sized equipment. Negatives - (1) The miscommunication about the financing paperwork (2) The installation crew showing up with the wrong sized units (not their fault) (3) The vent still broken in the one room and (4) Insufficient airflow in some rooms. (5) Having to pay more for a mistake that McCrea made. Still waiting on an answer from McCrea as to if they are going to fix any of these issues. I'm happy to update this review if McCrea resolves outstanding issues satisfactorily."

He put on she covers to protect my wood floors, worked very neatly and gave us some tips about ongoing maintenance. He did a perfect job. "Briggs Heating and Cooling has been our go to provider since we renovated our home in 2005. They are experienced, supremely responsive and personable professionals who truly care about their customers. They go out of their way to get it right. We have trusted them so much that we introduced them to my elderly parents’ home years ago. My parents have adopted them ever since. We have had several projects this year alone, some routine maintenance, some much more complicated. Each project was handled the same way. First, my parents have an old AC and “Trevor’s guys” come out every year to service it. Their gas heater required a new switch which, because it was an old unit, took a lot of effort to find and replace. Next, our newer AC had a valve malfunction, and Briggs’ went way out of their way to properly diagnose the problem. As a precaution, we received a second opinion. Not only did Briggs’ diagnose the problem properly, they fixed it at about a quarter of the cost that the other service provider would have charged. Most recently, a couple of weeks ago, a leak was detected in my parents’ newly installed gas fireplace logs which Briggs had not installed. They met me at my parents’s home within an hour and had it repaired in another hour. And their prices are always extremely reasonable. This is small business done right. In northern Virginia, they are a breath of fresh air."
