In one day, they removed and replaced my 100+ year old sewer stack, connected to city sewer, corrected poor old DIY plumbing jobs (pre-dated me) and replaced the main city water line. The hydrovav was fast, clean (I taped over my windows, but didn't need it in the end) and didn't rip up my whole yard. And it was so quick on the supply side that I didn't even know they were nearly done. All of this was done in one day, the inspector was out promptly and everything was great. Was it pricy - yes, but it was a fair cost and the work was great. 100% will use them again (new water heater on deck)."

"The lady who takes your calls is uncommonly straight forward and nice. On both occasions when I called I initially had later appointments but the plumber finished work at both locations earlier than anticipated. The telephone lady called and asked if the plumber could come earlier to make the fixes and replacements. After that it's really straight forward - that's what I loved about this company. The plumber shows up, you show him the problem, he works efficiently and thoroughly, doesn't waste his or your time asking about the kids or telling you about his Aunt Trudy, he cleans up, gets payment, and leaves. I loved working with this company because their's is the ideal business model - telephone lady is direct and upfront, the plumber came (earlier than expected - which worked better for my schedule), he did what he was supposed to do, performed quality work, received payment, and left. Ah, smooth!"

"I submitted a request on Angies List for a quote on my AC unit. I was unsure if a repair or replace was needed. I almost immediately had a call back and a schedule for someone to come take a look. Mike called me before arriving and was very prompt. He was very polite and professional and took time to fully inspect the unit. It turns out a new unit was needed and he went through my options and quoted prices. The pricing is very competitive. A new unit was scheduled for installation the next day. The AC installation was done very professionally. During the install a crack was found in the heat exchanger of the furnace. Again exceptional service was provided from quote to install. Big shot out to Mike Brown, Brock, Haidar, Brian and Dakota. There was another gentlemen with Brock and I can’t remember his name. So sorry!! If you need any work done on HVAC, give Five Star heating and cooling a shot. awesome job guys!"

"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."

He showed up when he said he would, corresponded when he said he would, and completed the work in the estimated time frame. "We just purchased this house this past summer.  Even though we have had the HVAC system worked on, nobody took notice of the condition of the Aprilaire.  When my husband turned it on, water ran out of it.  It wasn't an immediate concern so we put it off until nobody could stand the dryness in the house.  I opened the unit up to see if there was a serial number and discovered that most of it appeared to be missing.  I called several places but was impressed with the response of this company.  They came and checked it out. While the one part was on the truck, when the gentleman opened it up he said we had more parts than a filter missing and the unit had cracks in the housing.  The missing part was not normally needed so it had to be ordered.  
The company called me to tell me they had ordered the part (never had anybody tell me that before).  When part came in they called me again to schedule service.  The day before they called to confirm the appointment.  The day of the repair they again called to let me know the repair person would be there in 1/2 an hour and asked if that would be alright.
Instead of replacing the whole unit for $900 I agreed to use tape on the housing.  He assured me the cracks were just cosmetic.  I agreed to that since it sits unnoticed in the basement anyway.
I was impressed by the communication and the price.
