"They did a great job. Our house smells and feels so much cleaner. We had some water damage and needed our roof replaced so a lot of water in the house. So glad we got this done. We immediately noticed a difference."

"The price was reasonable. They dumped the dirty water from the cleaning out on my driveway, which I did not appreciate. I had to go out and clean it up. I would probably not use them again in the future for this reason."

"After getting bids from many companies I decided Berger Home Services best suited my needs. Met with David Berger on 2/22/16 and he gave me a comfortable bid on expected work. The color of the new gutters were initially a hangup but was soon rectified. Mr. Berger made an appointment for 3/8/16 and they were installed that day. The workers arrived on time and even worked in the rain to complete the job. I got to see the new gutters in action and they worked great. The screens they put in drained good. And this was a hard rain that fell too.

"1. They did a really good job. When the air flow balance wasn't to my liking they came back and fixed it right away. Also built new intake boxes to my guidelines. ($2000-2200, don't really remember exact amount) 2. Their tech was good at troubleshooting and pin pointing what was wrong. Was able to replace part the next day. ($200 for parts and labor) 3. Tech troubleshooted a bad capacitor and was able to replace it onsite and this was an after hours call. (aournd $185 for parts and labor) 4. Tech troubleshooted a bad control board. Took a day to get replacement board as this was a weekend call. ($400 for parts and labor) Their techs are pretty good at troubleshooting especially Jose. I would use them again."

"I cannot remember having a better customer service experience with quality workmanship and products. Green Leaf Air installed a high quality air conditioning and heating system (Trane), including ductwork and plenum, at a very reasonable price. The whole installation process went very smooth as the on site technician was highly qualified in all matters of ac/heating installation and tailored the install to address issues with air distribution and cooling in my house. His assistant was a perfectionist. The system functions in a superior fashion and my home is cooled wonderfully during these hot summer days! And they offer financing! 10 stars!"

"They were OK. I had a vent already in there and they said they couldn't replace their vent with my vent. They would have to take their vent apart a little bit and take mine apart a little bit and they couldn't do that. And I looked at it and I said this is just a nut, or taking three or four screws out. And what they ended up doing was put another hole on our roof and moving the vent over about 15 to 20 feet. I wasn't able to get up on the roof to see how they put it in or if they orientated it right, so I couldn't answer about the quality. I think I referred to them the beginning of September and they took care of it a couple of weeks later. Any handyman could take something apart fairly easy that's the same size."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Bay City, TX

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
