"Integrity Heating and Cooling stands by it name! We apologize for the delivery of this review as it is two months overdue. This story, though late, must be told! On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, we were scheduled for our summer ac unit “tune up” with Integrity Heating and Cooling. The service provider arrived on time. He was actually sitting in front of our home in his vehicle ten minutes ahead of schedule to be certain he was on time. The gentleman Integrity sent was pleasant and knowledgeable. When he entered our home, he wore both a mask and booties. He explained what the service would entail and proceeded to work. Everything went smoothly, and at the end of the visit, he provided us with some additional information. Shortly after the gentleman left, we noticed the temperature becoming slightly warmer but initially thought nothing of it as we were busy with our daily activities. Throughout the evening and into the following morning, however, it was sweltering in our house! No air was exiting the vents and the exterior unit would not come on no matter how low we set the thermostat. It appeared our system was no longer producing air. We contacted Integrity early on the morning of Thursday, June 11, 2020, to explain our concerns. I’m exaggerating, but it seemed Integrity service provider, Tyler, was at our home instantaneously! Just as the gentleman before him, Tyler arrived early and entered our home wearing a mask and booties. We’d actually worked with Tyler before. It is because of him that we became Integrity customers. He inspected our system and shared with us that an unattached hose allowed liquid into our compressor rendering it useless. He apologized and accepted responsibility on behalf of Integrity. He went on to say that although our situation was an emergency, Integrity could not immediately secure a new compressor but one would be found ASAP. We thanked Tyler, and as he left, he assured us Integrity would be contacting us with details. Sure enough, Integrity almost immediately contacted us! I am really sorry that I cannot remember the name of the woman who called particularly because we communicated with her several times. She, too, was pleasant and professional. After she apologized and let us know that it would not be until Monday, June 15, 2020, before the compressor would be replaced, she offered us some great news. Given the weekend forecast was for sweltering heat, Integrity’s owner, Kent Lowe, offered to pay for us to stay at a hotel until the compressor could be fixed. Wow…such INTEGRITY! The only problem was that we have a dog who was not going to accompany us to the hotel. She would have stayed in the kennel. In order to meditate and collect her thoughts, she requires at least three days notice ahead of any kennel stay, otherwise she mutates…and no one really wants that. Given she would have had no notice, we decided it would be in our best interest to keep the peace and graciously declined Integrity’s wonderfully thoughtful offer! Besides, our basement was cool and we could easily camp out there. On Monday, June 15, we got a call indicating a new compressor would be delivered to our home. Moments after the compressor was delivered, Integrity service provider Cameron came to our door. Just as his colleagues before him, Cameron wore a mask and booties and was both pleasant and professional. I don’t think he was here two hours before our house breathed a cool sigh of relief. The compressor had been replaced and all was well and comfortable in our home once again. Many companies want you to think they believe in good customer service, but our family wants to state the fact that Integrity Heating and Cooling wants its customers to KNOW they believe in EXCELLENT customer service. Our experience with them is proof of Integrity’s integrity! The Mapps"

"We had Apex windows installed last week and could immediately see and hear the improvements. Installation was done in two days. We can now open our windows and even have screens. As a bonus the Energy Star windows qualify for a tax deduction. Luciano @ 704-770-8796 was our sales rep. Thanks!"

"We've been trying to get solar installed on our roof since early 2018. We hit some snags, and even had to replace most of our roof, delaying the progress until 2019, when we had to start over, because our 2018 estimates had all expired. We found Solar Energy World through the LEAP Co-op's Solarize NoVA program. They connected us to Paul Skorochod, who helped design the best system for our home and property (which is suitable, but not ideal for solar power, thanks to numerous beautiful but very tall old-growth trees surrounding us). His team worked through the permitting process, installation, (county) inspection, and (Dominion) net meter installation. The installers were prompt, fast, professional, and courteous. They installed 42 panels on three surfaces in a single 8-hour workday, despite having three days allocated for the work. I recommend Solar Energy World and Paul in particular. He's a straight shooter who is passionate about solar power, and he'll put your interests first. Give him a call at 443-804-3785, and he'll get your project moving."

"Matt provided us with a very thorough energy assessment. His 24 page report included thermal images of our home showing where energy was escaping. He provided information on the efficiency of our furnaces and air conditioners (we have a finished basement) and our windows. He assessed the performance of our wall, floor and attic insulation and told us where we had air leaks throughout the house. He then offered suggestions about what we might want to do to make our home more energy efficient. We agreed to sign a 2 year agreement for twice annual checks of our two systems for $259.00 total. After the first year we called to schedule our Spring 2012 inspection, only to find out their phone had been disconnected. After a few calls, we found a number for Ross and Whitman Inc. who apparently had bought out Energy Tight and it's customer lists. All ended well as Matt was with the new company and did our inspections for 2012. We have been pleased with Matt's work and will continue with the company as long as he is there. <br />"

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Charlotte, NC

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
