"Elliot quickly responded to my request on Angie's List. He was prompt to schedule a time to come to our home and ***** our needs. He did a very thorough job taking measurements and proposing a system to meet our needs. His proposal for both a new Trane heatpump system and a new water heater was very reasonable so we accepted his proposal. He was able to schedule the installation for the next day! Josh and Lance arrived early the next morning prepared to install our new systems. They were very professional and friendly and did an exceptional job. Josh made sure we understood how our thermostat worked and how to care for our Aprilaire air filter. I highly recommend Elliot and his crew with Cincinnati Heating and AC! I also recommend a Trane system. It's miles above our old system. It runs so quiet that my wife thought it had stopped working until I held her and next to the vent so she could feel the air. :-)"

"The team did a great job from the time they came out to look at the old HVAC system, to going through the options with us for repair or replacement. When we decided in replacement the team that came out was very professional, clean and quick with the whole thing. Overall they did a great job and I would recommend their services"

"Corey, and his team of installers were very professional, and instilled my trust. From the initial call, home visit, booking, through to the installation, everything was top quality. Very happy with the options, which were carefully and thoughtfully explained, Zero pressure, friendly, and professional. They have just completed the installation, on time as agreed. Despite the terrible weather, they were cheerful, happy to help, and I can only say I am very satisfied (and amazed) with the care taken to try to keep things clean. Corey said he would check in during the day, which he did. His team took their time to do things right. 36 year old system replaced (18 years with us), and the difference is noticeable. little louder; they offered to adjust, but as the old system probably hadnâ t been working well for years, Iâ d prefer to see how this goes. They assured me I can call to get it adjusted. I wouldnâ t hesitate to recommend them."

"From my 1st phone call to ask about the services they provide and costs to when RJ & Walker left I've been completely satisfied. My appointment time was from 1-3 and they showed up right at 1pm. RJ & Walker both walked up to me and introduced themselves with a firm handshake.  We toured the house looking at all the vents and air returns along with the furnace. Then RJ fully explained what he would be doing and the Walker explained what he would be doing. They answered all of my questions.  About 30 minutes before completing the job, RJ asked me to come downstairs and he showed me all the dirt and stuff that came out of the vents. He showed me how he closed up the intake points he had to make in the duct work. They removed the equipment and everything was put back as it was and left clean. The entire time RJ & Walker stayed productive, friendly and professional. It was a pleasure having them in my home to complete this service."

"First, let me just say that Hauser's after-sale support is absolutely excellent. They were responsive and eager to help correct any problems we encountered. The problem is not so much with Hauser Air's current staff but the salesman (Jim) who sold us the system and design. When we purchased our house, we knew the system was rather old. After one hot summer and one cold winter, we decided that we needed to completely upgrade it as the interior temperature fluctuation was unacceptable. We got bids from five different contractors for Trane and American Standard systems (both are basically the same products with different brands). Jim came in to our home and sounded very confident in the system that he wanted to sell to us, pointing to his decades of experiences dealing with houses in Southwest Ohio. The technicians sent to us by Hauser were all excellent. They were respectful and diligent in their working. They also did a great job cleaning up any debris. There were some glitches in the installation process that they handled well. However, after the installation, it became apparent that the system wasn't performing up to what Jim assured us. First, while temperature fluctuation inside the house became less, it was nowhere near what Jim had told us. Secondly, we revisited what Jim had told us on the day of his visit and what was actually installed and found a couple of discrepancies. He told us that we would get a second touchscreen thermostat control on the second floor but it was instead simply a temperature sensor. He also initially told us that the package included an Aprilaire humidifier with accurate humidity controls but instead we received an American Standard humidifier that is far less capable. Meanwhile, the zoning system also didn't initially function as intended and repeatedly caused the system to shut down due to air flow issues. Finally, Jim also mischaracterized the zoning system to us. On his sales visit, he told us that he'd zone the downstairs and upstairs when in fact the actual zoning system was more along the lines of downstairs vents being split 40/60, with the 40% downstairs vents grouped along with all supply vents upstairs. Lastly, the humidifier did not have a drain hose installed, splashing water all over my basement floor for several days before the technicians came out to fix it. With all that went wrong, why am I still willing to hire Hauser again in the future? Because their technicians are so nice and responsive. And the system, while nowhere near what Jim had promised us, is still much improved from the 21 year old Carrier system that it replaced. I've also heard some very good things about Hauser's owner, Roy, and his technicians made it clear to me that Roy treats his workers very well and is passionate about his business, and I really respect that. Despite Jim's over-promise and under-delivery, I'm willing to give Hauser the benefit of doubt on this very expensive and disappointing purchase. In hindsight, it's rather clear to me that Jim simply didn't understand the system that he was selling. In fact, on subsequent visits by Hauser's excellent technicians to fix the numerous mistakes made due to Jim's initial design, it became abundantly obvious that Jim simply didn't possess the technical knowledge of how this particular zoning system works before committing to a system. Although the technicians suggested some potential improvement to the design that should improve the overall comfort of the zoning system, it would also cost us even more than the $13,000+ we already sunk into everything. Quite frankly, the overall experience was sorely disappointing. Apparently, Jim no longer works for Hauser. I have no idea whether this is due to customer complaints or whatever. I just wish that I had gone with Thomas Watkins initially, since their salesperson's suggested system design is identical to what Hauser technicians later proposed. It could've spared me a whole lot of headache and hassle over the past year. The simple version of my review is: Hauser Air should be perfectly fine for most of your needs, but unfortunately my experience with them was through a salesperson who didn't understand the expensive products he was selling and over-promised/under-delivered during his brief tenure with Hauser. However, I would like to emphasize that Hauser's technicians and staff are exceptional and among the best I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with."

"We’ve used them multiple times. They’ve been able to take care of our problems. We had problems with a backup in our sink as well as with our main shut off valve. They have also helped us with a leaky toilet. We had installed a toilet but it had started leaking. This company came out and explained what was down incorrectly and how to fix it. They can usually squeeze us in when we need help. He explains things of our plumbing, like what not to do or how to do-it-yourself projects. You never feel intimated with them as they are very down to earth. They are just awesome to us!"

FAQs for ducts & vents installation and replacement projects in Cincinnati, OH

Return air vents aren't required in every room, but proper placement is essential for system efficiency. According to industry standards, you'll need one return vent for every 100 to 150 square feet of living space. Ideally, each room would have its own return vent, especially larger rooms exceeding 100 square feet.

Without adequate return airflow, your HVAC system works harder, energy costs increase, and comfort decreases. A professional assessment can determine the optimal number and placement of return vents for your specific home layout.

Signs that your home needs additional return air vents include rooms that feel consistently stuffy, noticeable temperature variations between rooms, doors that slam shut when the HVAC system operates, or unexpectedly high energy bills. Excessive dust accumulation around supply vents can also indicate inadequate return airflow.

If you experience these issues, consulting with an HVAC professional can help determine if adding return vents would improve your system's performance.

Supply vents deliver conditioned air into your living spaces, while return air vents draw room air back to your HVAC system for reconditioning. Supply vents push treated air into rooms, while return vents pull air from rooms back toward your heating and cooling equipment.

Both components are essential for proper air circulation and system balance. Without sufficient return capacity, your HVAC system may experience pressure imbalances that reduce efficiency and comfort.

You should inspect and clean your return air vents at least once annually, according to industry recommendations. However, homes with pets, allergy sufferers, or noticeable dust buildup may benefit from more frequent cleaning.

Regular maintenance helps maintain good indoor air quality and ensures your HVAC system operates efficiently. Professional duct cleaning, which addresses the entire system beyond just the visible vents, is recommended every few years, depending on your home's specific conditions.
