"As part of a New York State/Orange & Rockland energy savings program, my wife and I had the pleasure of working with Energy Management Solution, the firm that did the installation. We couldn't be more pleased with everyone involved and the work that was done. They provided quality insulation in the attic, the roof slopes, dormer areas, basement, and the garage ceiling. Here are the sequence of events: 1. EMS did a preliminary walk-through. The person they sent was knowledgeable, easy to communicate with and pleasant, answering all our questions. 2. Because our house is a Cape Cod with an attic and 5 dormer spaces, a second team was sent to do more detailed measurements. We were very pleased with this because it showed that EMS wanted to provide the most accurate cost estimate, which meant no added expense down the road. The second team was just as knowledgeable as well as being easy to communicate with and pleasant, again answering all our questions. 3. The actual installation took two and half days. It was a three person crew. Believe me when I say it's tiring, thankless work, and they all did a great job. They were very conscientious about being as neat and clean as possible. They cleaned up after themselves each day. They were all very polite, thorough and easy to communicate with. I keep harping on communication because we ask a lot of questions and nothing is more irritating to us than dealing with emotionally driven men who become defensive the more questions you ask. Best of all, my wife and I have really noticed a significant difference with the temperature. Our house was built in 1954, and, although it had original insulation, it didn't do much. Both my wife and I couldn't be happier with the job Energy Management Solutions did. We highly recommend them."

"My nightmare began Wednesday 11/27/24 day before thanksgiving . Boiler would not turn on . Called Yost and Campbell. A technician came out $326 dollars later was told I needed 3 parts . A relay , A transformer, and a low water panel . He said he would be back Friday 11/29/24. After numerous and numerous of phone calls giving me a run around claiming they are speaking with the technician and office is open until 6 pm. Well 4:45 I called for the last hope of the day since I hadn’t gotten any call backs. To my disbelief the office was closed already. I was sent to service call and they took the message and said they would forward it and not one individual called me back . Saturday 4 days without heat on the coldest week of the year, I spoke to a lady ( wont mention names) and after a lengthy conversation I was told first well we let people go home early Friday to spend time with family because the day before was a holiday . I was totally beside myself. I stated understandable but I was told they are open until 6 pm and 4:45 everyone was gone. She claimed someone will definitely reach out today . Today came and went and still no phone call. Day 5 of no heat tried to get another company because Yost and Campbell was not communicating . Day 6 no heat , phone calls for days from tenants with children complaining constantly and no success with heat . Monday afternoon ( Also leaving names out) a female representative kept reaching out to me cause I wanted to cancel ) after numerous text messages back and forth trying to be apologetic and concerned came back with a quote with all inclusive 3 parts and labor . I agreed , giving them another try to complete the job . I paid the requested 50% and finally on December 7 ( 9 days without heat) the supervisor of technicians got the boiler up and running . ONLY TO MY SURPRISE was told I had to pay an extra $512.34 . Like a fool I paid the total that day after the 9 day nightmare and spinning of my head with calls , text messages etc etc. happy to have heat for the people. Now we are on December 12,2024 trying to get my refund on an not in the agreement and I’m totally being ignored . I can not believe a company as reputable as Yost and Campbell would do this to a customer and sadly having a technician call the customer and lie that an extra part was put in when he installed the exact three parts we agreed upon and to make a customer feel bad by saying now they are going to take it out of his salary which affects his family and I replied I as well have a family and grandchildren . A company of their calabra and 85 years in business to put a customer through this for $ 512.34 is totally unacceptable and disgusting . As of tonight no return calls , no text messages ."

"?We bought a neglected 1890s Victorian and handed it to Malcarne. Big ask. Joseph personally oversaw the structural work and never sugarcoated what needed to be done ? which we respected. Francisco coordinated every trade and kept a project that could have gone sideways at any point running on schedule. Nine months later we have the home we always wanted. These guys can handle anything.?"

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Congers, NY

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
