"We bought a two-story brick house with a walkout basement. The entire basement had to be gutted due to a burst water line and the mold and mildew that developed while the house sat empty - even the ceiling had to come down. Although the walls had been insulated with Fiberglass batts, the rim joist had never been insulated. Lots of air leaks at the rim joist, around the windows and around the fiberglass.  Louisville Spray Foam Insulation sprayed closed-cell foam from the top of the rim joist/band joist all the way down to the basement floor. The difference is truly amazing! Our house sits very close to the road and before the spray foam application you could hear cars coming down the road long before they passed in front of the house ? now I only hear them when they are directly in front of the house and only when I am standing right at a window. The foam seals it up very tight! The basement has a totally new warm cozy feeling with no cold corners or any lingering dampness. It just doesn't feel like a basement at all now. The foam applicators were careful to mask off areas where there might be overspray, like our brick fireplace, floor and stairwell. They did a good job of cleanup when they were done and we were able  <br /> <br /> I guess what I take away from this process is this: there is no real comparison between fiberglass and spray foam insulation. They may both use "R-Values" to try to explain how well they insulate, but the difference is so much more. The closed-cell spray foam is not just insulation, it is also a vapor barrier that seals every little space. It can't absorb water or get damp or sag over time. Fiberglass is done, part of history. I could never see myself using it again."

"Ken York was absolutely wonderful.  He did careful measurements and calculation of what was the optimal size furnace, discussed the options with us, responded immediately to any questions or problems we had, worked with KY Home Performance, and generally made sure every problem was resolved immediately.  He also gave us a lot of practical advice on insulating our home which worked when we followed it.  <br /> The only negative was that the installers were all young guys who worked quickly but not always correctly for most of two days.  I found one or two issues while they were working, which they quickly and cheerfully changed. However, after the installation, there were a number of problems that appeared (after talking to friends that doesn't seem unusual), but we called Ken and they were immediately (the same day)  fixed by experienced and friendly service people.  The whole job was done in the time frame he gave at the price he quoted. <br /> We have been very happy with the system over the past year.  Mr York's furnace calculation was smaller than we expected, but he was absolutely right based on our winter experience.  The new equipment is quieter than our previous system, and it keeps the upstairs and downstairs much closer to the same temperature.  Basically, it now seems as though the house is now magically always comfortable. <br /> We have delayed writing this review because we are not sure what our experience would have been without Mr York.  He made it his business that we have an excellent experience, and we did. <br />"

"I had researched GISCO through Angie's List for my 86 year-old mother's home. My mother had blindly contacted another firm that I felt was overpriced and I offered to get another quote for her. Tony (GISCO owner) offered to remove all of the old insulation, install new insulation, remove and insulate an old box fan, and insulate the stairwell going up to the attic. Far more services than the competitive quote. <br /> The crew was professional, showed up on time, delivered services as promised, and worked quickly and safely. My mother had a lot of stored items (READ: junk) in her attic. The crew moved and semi-organized the mess and even offered the use of their dumpster if we wanted to dispose of anything. We tossed about half of the pile away. What remained, the crew actually moved and combined into a neat pile and covered with a plastic tarp. <br /> BOTTOM LINE: House warmer, attic cleaner. "WE FOUND OUT LATER THAT WE DIDN'T NEED TRIPLE PANE WINDOWS, WE ONLY NEEDED DOUBLE PANE. SO WE PAID MORE THAN WE ACTUALLY NEEDED. THEY DIDN'T DO A VERY GOOD JOB, OR ANY JOB, OF CLEANING UP THE INSIDE. I CLEANED IT UP MYSELF."

Afterwards, Richard's crew installed a new well sealed and calibrated ductwork system for all floors. Their team was thorough and clean. Richard submited our efforts to make our home more energy efficient to a Kentucky state program. We will recieve some rebates....we were not aware of this program at the outset, but Richard told us about it. These guys are great, highly recommended."
