"We had a great experience with Discount Energy Services. They insulated our entire attic and crawl space, and from start to finish they were professional, responsive, and easy to work with. The turnaround time was impressively quick, the quality of the work was excellent, and we felt the value was very good for the scope of the project. The team was efficient, knowledgeable, and clearly took pride in doing the job well. We really appreciated how smoothly the whole process went and would gladly recommend Discount Energy Services to anyone looking for high-quality insulation work."

"Great! Job was complete .... removal of existing 50+ year old insulation, air sealing attic, baffle installation, installed 18 inches new fiberglass blown insulation, and new whole-house fan. Job started and completed as proposed. Crew on-time, quietly performed their work, and left spaces clean when done. Definitely worth the cost as noticeable improvement in second floor temperature and humidity readings."
Owens Corning ProPink R-49 Blown-In Insulation. Our most popular product
These vents help your attic circulate air. With attics reaching over 120 degrees in the summer these are very important. They prevent mold and increase the lifetime of your insulation. Most other contractors miss installing these.
Look at the difference! Our foam is fire-rated which allows us to air seal around penetrations that contractors never could before.
Most homes have penetrations all over there attic. Imagine trying to blow up a balloon with a bunch of holes. It will never fill up. Now imagine trying to blow up your house with air conditioning and heating with a bunch of holes in the attic. It will never fill up.
Recessed can lights are notorious for leaking air. Recessed can light covers help with air-sealing your living space and prevent fires.

"First, there are a lot of dubious roofers out there. We wanted a GAF Roof System with a 50 Year Warranty. American Home Contractors was the only one that was Master Elite Certified by GAF to install a 50 Year Warranty roof in our area. A lot of roofers said that they were, only to find out by the regional GAF Representative, that they were intentionally/unintentionally misleading. It is conceivable that quite a few people out there think they have a warranty, that won't and will find out from GAF that the number one reason they don't is because their installer wasn't certified to do so. Stop right here. American Home Contractors is the one of the very few Master Elite Installer in area. Shaun coordinated our installation. He is the very best at what he does, which is answer your questions honestly and make every request that we made to the owner. From the very first meeting to the signing of the contract to the day of and after the installation, he patiently and promptly answered all of our questions and addressed all of our concerns. Most that we got estimates from focused exclusively on the shingles, but if you want your shingles to last more than a few years, you need adequate ventilation in your attic. Their was a small miscommunication about the day of the installation, but they more than made up for it. We have a very steep roof (11/12 pitch). The day of the installation, the Carlos and his crew put down tarps and thoroughly cleaned after each day. Because the roof was large and pitched, it took two full days and a few hours on the third. The second day was Thanksgiving. That is right, they came out on Thanksgiving to finish but were a few shingles shy of completion. These were Slateline GAF shingles. They are not on the shelves at your big boxes and have to be ordered. But Shaun and his supplier were able to find a pack locally and delivered on Saturday before a big storm was moving in. They crew showed up, finished installation, and we were sealed tight well before the rain started. Everyone was polite and professional. The financing could not be easier. I would not hesitate to do it again. Thankfully, because of the warranty, I won't have to. We have other exterior projects, and these guys have more than earned my loyalty. I will give them first option on those projects. They also have 0% financing for 18 months. This was the longest of all roofers we received estimates from. American Home Contractors is top notch, you absolutely will not be disappointed. A new roof is a major expense and a potentially stressful renovation, but these guys made it a minor hassle. I am sure that all of their staff are great, but ask for Shaun. Probably don't need to ask for him, he likely will be your guy and you are going to be very happy at how easy he and AHC make this for you. Best Regards!"

"Debbie, the AC&R salesperson, was very knowledgeable and confident. They were the 2nd quote I got for work and came in even lower than I expected (which gave me pause as a low bid is a red flag). But true to her word, they did the work professionally (mostly...see below) and promptly. While I had another company do the energy audit for the Pepco rebate, AC&R took over the work, did the blown fiberglass one day and the spray foam the next.

For the blown fiberglass in the attics above our additions, they added spray foam (from a can) around any gaps per the contract and foam board baffles at the soffits. The installer noted that all our soffits were blocked and the batting insulation was too wide for the rafter channels, so he leveled it out as best he could to ensure an even coating of blown insulation. At the end, he sealed up the gaps between the attic and our to-be-finished upstairs (cape cod style, so all one room).

For the spray foam insulation, the team came in the next day, and I had to be out of the house due to fumes. I did come back around noon as they expected to be done well before then. They didn't know I came in and I went to the back of the house to watch TV on my work break. The one annoyance was during their cleanup, one of the installers came down into our kitchen and then saw me. He said he was looking for a vacuum cleaner to clean the stairs. I told him don't worry about the carpet as it was getting pulled up, but this was the one piece of unprofessionalism I noted above. Contractors should NEVER use the homeowner's property; they should bring their own tools, including vacuums!

While the spray foam can get very messy, they kept the splatter mostly contained to inside the crawlspace, not the finished flooring. However, I was surprised that they didn't tape off the outlet covers or light switched. since the particles are so small, we're going to have to replace the switches/receptacles at our cost. Also, there was a storm door screen that wasn't covered and now needs cleaned. Basically, I think they should have taken more care in covering the very few items we left upstairs and the outlets/switches.

They didn't spray around the window frames (large gaps where window weights used to be) because the open cell foam would expand too much. If I wasn't there, I think they would have just left, but it was clear in our contract discussions they needed to insulate those spaces too. They used a few cans of "Good Stuff" equivalent, but didn't fill in the gaps entirely. It did the job well enough, but it's a ding against them as I expected more preparation.

Lastly, I thought that AC&R would walk me through all the scheduling and final "test out" (for the Pepco rebate), but I had to contact them and schedule with someone different each time. They were always prompt, but I expect the experts to know to do this for/with me rather than expect me to know the process. I go through it once in a lifetime while they do it weekly.

While the end of the review sounds more negative than positive, I would definitely recommend AC&R out to others as they're priced right, they have been in business for over a century, and like any contractor, you just need to follow up to be sure everything is done to your satisfaction.

"They pointed out areas of air loss that needed to be covered or blocked and advised  more attic insulation which service they will provide. Their price offer seems reasonable.  I'm still crunching numbers.

"Working with Sino-America General Contracting was excellent from start to finish. Our project was a complete redo of the basement - we had demo'd floors, walls, and ceiling ourselves, and hired Mason and his team to help install a custom bathroom under the stairs complete with custom shower pan, under floor heating, and tiled walls. We also had them build a small mechanical room, install insulation, redo flooring, redo drywalls, build a drywall frame around the HVAC, install new vents and ducts, and install recessed lighting. They also built a bannister for the stairs leading to the basement and installed a matching railing and bannister for the upstairs. Finally the installed new doors for the upstairs and downstairs, and moved the downstairs door to the right a few inches in order to accommodate our design. This necessitated external brickwork and they were able to match the 70 year old brick extremely well. From the initial meeting Mason was responsive and professional as we went back and forth on the design of the bathroom. The designer (whose name I sadly can't remember) did a fantastic job with clever use of space and a keen understanding of how the design will translate into real life. Experienced in AutoCAD - they provided clear and very accurate 2D renderings and beautiful 3D renderings of the finished design, including 3D renderings of the style of sinks, toilet, lights, and mirrors we wanted. The contract was well presented and explained with the scope of the project clearly identified. At no point was anything unclear. He worked with a punch list with holdback until the punch list completed. Communication of contractor's needs and schedules were well coordinated with mine so there were no surprise missed days. Worked weekends to help expedite project completion. Any issues or concerns that we had during construction were explained or addressed right away. There was an accidental error during installation of the under floor heating and Mason and his team addressed it which required removing tile, reinstalling the heating system, testing, and replacing tile. They built a good relationship of trust with excellent communication throughout The quality of the work is excellent and stands up to close scrutiny. Smooth, crisp, and even drywall and corners, including on strange angles and niches. Beautiful, uniform color application Beautiful tiling and corners. The attention to detail was also very good. As an example we turned the remaining space under the stairs into a kitty-litter area including custom trapezoidal door and externally vented bathroom fan. Despite it being in a low-traffic area, all the work in that miniature room was of the same quality - crisp corners, well-joined shoe-moulding, and nicely painted edges. I recommend Sino-American Construction without hesitation."

"Ed with E&R Home Solutions was very easy to work with. All of the staff is professional. Inspection and proposal was completed in a timely manner. New roof was installed on date promised. They worked very hard to complete it within one-day, working into the late evening. Clean-up was okay, we do still find nails occasionally (work was completed approx. 2 months ago). I'm sure they did the best they could given the late time and poor lighting. Overall we are very happy with the work and will hire them again in the future if needed. We will also recommend to friends and family."

"I purchased the AL deal for $500 for 100 linear feet of gutter and down spouts etc.  Great pricing.
I have had this company previously only to do the gutter cleanings.
I got a wide range of pricing for gutters trust me.  I wanted to try gutter guards on the townhome itself and not the garage as it is separate from the house.  As i recall the Leaf Relief system they use is $8/linear foot so I spent about $450 for this.  Figured its worth a try given how much i spend on gutter cleaning annually.  The garage is easy to reach and be cleaned, the house less so....
For 197 linear feet of gutters/downspouts I ended up paying roughly $1k.$5/foot for the first 100 feet and $7 or 8 for the remaining 97 feet.  I also was changing from a 5'' gutter to a 6'' gutter and changed color from white to eggshell/linen color.
Costco, wouldn't give prices over the phone. I simply wanted to know the price per foot and not waste their or my time.  Their non Gutter guard containing price for the same  was in the $3k range.  Uhmm no thanks.
The installer for this company, bless his heart, worked pretty much solo.  I thought it would be a 6 hour job from what they told me and perhaps it would have been IF 2 people were working simultaneously to remove and replace the gutters.  Nonetheless he worked from 9a to about nearly dark, had to come back the next evening after his next job and when i wasn't pleased that one of the downspouts was slightly angled, had to come back the next morning (sunday).  Can't recall his name.  I think he was trying to be accomodating.  I just wanted the work to be done on the initial day and not drag into my weekend.. However....
Its raining now, November 7 and my gutters are working draining and functional.
