"I contacted Chris via Angies list and immediately had contact within 24 hours. Chris came to the house and measured everything and was able to give an estimate within 72 hours. I do have to say Chris's estimate was par with what we were expecting. He was more than willing to accommodate our needs and changes along the way. I do have to say Chris does listen. He knew our budget and made sure we were communicated with about going over or of ways he thought we could save money. Chris's brother, Steve was the lead project manager of our expansion. He did a great job communicating to me and my wife. They showed up on time everyday and made sure to communicate to me of when they would not be there as to not get in the way of others who need to work (i.e. dry waller, electrician, floor company). To comment on their dedication, Chris and Steve contracted a new flooring business to do our floor instillation. The floor went in great but the first staining was not up to par with matching appropriately as we had discussed early in the design phase. The flooring company was not impressed as well, and the owner came out and redid the floors and they are so much closer to the color of our older floors. "Things went perfectly.   <br /> After a delay that was not Standard's responsibility, things went smoothly and on schedule.  <br /> The two installation technicians were prompt, very clean, courteous and let me know when they were leaving and returning.    I asked for a favor outside the scope of their duties and they confirmed something I was noticing in the attic insulation.  <br /> I asked for extra carpentry work to completely hide a refrigeration line and they contacted someone who did a great job.  The sheet rock work in the ceiling matched  the pattern that was already there. <br /> The unit was installed safely and securely.   They were very courteous and professional.   I also tend to ask technical questions; I learned a lot about the new inside and outside units.  <br /> Several days later, a senior technician came by and explained the technical features in further detail, what filters to use, etc. etc.  I also asked this service technician to take a look at the unit in the attic as we had just bought the house.   He went all over with me in the attic and confirmed a variety of energy conscious matters.   <br /> I agreed to go with a maintenance contract after the professional installation.   <br /> <br /> <br />"

"What I learned from not hiring Michael Hurd, General Contractor at Right Building ([*** Link removed ***] I thought I could save money by not having a GC. Instead, the amount spent on putting in a bathroom, kitchen and laundry room in my basement came out to the same amount the GC had estimated which included his fee. The work took way too long and I was at the mercy of the workers because I didn’t have the needed expertise in those areas to supervise and make decisions about what was being done. In the end I needed to hire and consult with Michael for his expertise about the final product and how it might affect the appraisal of my house. If I had hired him in the first place it would have saved me money, stress, and resulted in a better finished product."
