"He explained all the parts that were needed, how an expanding pipe would be best since my mud room--where the pipe runs through--is not heated, and how the outside faucet mounting would be a bit tricky, and I couldnt be happier. I can clean my backyard, water plants, no problems at all. He also replaced my bathroom showerhead in about two minutes and I have perfect water pressure now. He was friendly, affordable, informative, and amenable. I look forward to hiring him again!

"I called Buric (on advice of friend/neighbor) when A/C wasn't working and I asked what to expect in their charges. The guy on the phone told me they charge a flat $95 (or $99?) for driving out here. So I asked if they charge by the hour or half hour. No, he said, by the job. He couldn't give me an estimate because he didn't know what was wrong. So, a technician came out and diagnosed my unit (which blew air but didn't get cold) as old & dead and needing replacement. So, in my mind, there was really there was no job outside of replacement. In their mind, they did a job by taking 10 minutes to look at the unit and tell me there was nothing to be done for it. So, instead of charging me $99 for coming out, they charged me $230 for coming out AND telling me the unit couldn't be fixed. That irritated me. Then I asked for a bid for new system. The guy went out and talked on the phone to his boss and come back with a written bid. I later compared it with my second bid from another co. Buric's bid was higher than the company I selected, but not enough to sway me if I had liked their way of doing business. However, the previous (over)charge, which was not explained by the guy I spoke to when I first called, left such a bad taste in my mouth I couldn't go with them. So that extra $130 they made cost them around $5000. I hope it was worth it to them. BTW, if I had gone with them, they would have subtracted the $230 from the bid, but I just couldn't get past it. So, I am not saying anything about the quality of their work--it may be just fine, but I don't like the way they did business."

"Excellent service from Hecomo. Technician did not try to push purchase of a new HVAC system even though there were major issues with our system, feel comfortable while talking with an advisor. Very knowledgeable, patiently, friendly and nice person, answer all my questions. Later on, we decided to replace the whole new system with fair price and wasn’t ripped off as others. Very professional and well trained technician. I will definitely use them again."

"I had used No-Frost about ten years ago to completely replace the furnace and heat pump in my townhouse and also add an Aprilaire furnace humidifier. I chose them at that point not only because they were the low bid but because they explained everything clearly, provided great documentation and also were a Trane dealer and offered a ten year warranty. The installation and service in my townhouse were first rate and I had no trouble at all with the system for over ten years. We moved to another house less than a year ago and inherited a system with a very old furnace humidifier that the previous owner had not been using, had disconnected the supply and drain lines, and it had no filter. I called two contractors for estimates on replacing the unit. The first contractor sent a crew out to look at the system and give an estimate. When I called No-Frost, Eileen quoted me a price over the phone that was half the price of the other contractor. They would also give me a furnace/heat pump system check at no charge. Given my history with No-Frost, it was a No-Brainer. They were able to schedule within a week with an Aprilaire 600 with the advanced humidistat. The tech arrived on time. Our furnace and water heater are both tucked into a closet in our finished basement and there is not a lot of room to maneuver. Additionally, since we were replacing an existing installation, the new humidifier needed to fit in the same space. Initially, the tech had serious doubts about whether the new humidifier was going to fit. After some deliberation, we decided to give it a try. About twenty minutes later the tech called me down and showed me that it actually fit perfectly, with more than enough room open the unit to change the filter. Additionally, we had requested the Aprilaire unit with the automatic exterior humidity sensor. The tech explained to me that he had that system installed in his house and was not satisfied with the performance. There was a way to modify the installation to avoid running the outside sensor and improve performance, which he did. During the free system check, the tech also pointed out that there were signs of black mold inside the furnace. I had also previously noted some mold on one of the ceiling air vents. The tech gave me a recommendation for a duct cleaning company. Within two hours the installation was complete. There was an existing PVC drain line that went into the floor in the utility closet that we used for the humidifier drain. The system ran for about twenty minutes and all was well. About ten minutes after the tech had left, I started getting a puddle of water on the floor around the PVC drain. I shut the unit off and immediately called No-Frost. Eileen told me she would send the tech right back. Within ten minutes he was back, and he determined that there was a problem with the drain line that went into the concrete floor. I would need to call a plumber. Amazingly, I was able to get a plumber, Robert Bookhultz, out within two hours. They snaked the drain line to the outside, excavated the end (which had been buried under 6 inches of dirt), and added a 12 foot extension. Drain problem solved. The humidifier works great. Our HVAC system is about 15 years old and I will certainly call No-Frost when it is time to replace it."

"Horizon Services was tasked to replace a 25 year old Central Air system. The team was on time, well mannered, polite, friendly, worked as one unit. Talking and giving suggestions to another if needed. Any mess they made, they cleaned up. I left the house to return to work. I left my cell phone number for them to call me if they completed the job prior to my return. they attempted to return items to their original space. I don't remember the crew taking a lunch break. I asked if anyone had lunch? They stated "finishing this job is more important.". The job took approximately ten hours. (Non stop) It was expensive, but worth it! When they removed the antiquated material it was replaced with brand new up to date equipment., The old equipment was taken away! I would highly recommend Horizon Services to anyone who asked."

"The sales person, sold me a 15.5 seer heat pump and and the model it says 14.0 seer, so I asked the technician and he told me that, with both systems equal to 15.5 seer. I wanted to see 15.5 seer on the machine specifications but it does not said. So at this point, I donâ t know if the system installed at my house was 14.0 or 15.5 seer."

FAQs for central humidifier installation and replacement projects in Dayton, MD

A crawl space dehumidifier is a worthwhile investment, particularly in humid climates or if you've noticed musty odors, mold growth, or wood deterioration. Though costs range from $3,000 to $9,200, this investment helps prevent structural damage that could require far more expensive repairs later. Beyond structural protection, a properly dehumidified crawl space contributes to better overall indoor air quality and may reduce allergens throughout your home. Consider having a professional assessment to determine if your specific situation warrants this investment.

Addressing crawl space moisture effectively often requires a combination of solutions. A complete approach includes encapsulation plus dehumidifier installation. For minor moisture issues, a basic dehumidifier starting at $1,500 may suffice, while severe problems in larger spaces could require systems costing up to $14,000. The most effective moisture control strategy depends on your specific conditions, making a professional assessment valuable for determining the most cost-effective approach for your situation.

For a crawl space measuring 1,500 square feet, you'll need a dehumidifier with a daily capacity of 30 to 50 pints, with unit costs ranging from $150 to $600. Your local climate and existing moisture levels may necessitate adjusting this capacity—homes in particularly humid regions might benefit from higher-capacity units. Professional installers can measure your specific humidity conditions and recommend equipment that is appropriately sized, balancing initial cost with operating efficiency for your unique situation.

Crawl space dehumidifiers add $300 to $500 to your annual electricity expenses when operating continuously. Energy-efficient models reduce this consumption by roughly 15 to 30% compared to standard units. Most contemporary dehumidifiers feature humidity sensors that automatically cycle operation based on current conditions, helping manage energy usage. Proper crawl space encapsulation significantly improves efficiency by creating a controlled environment that requires less dehumidifier runtime, thereby reducing ongoing electricity costs.
