The rest of the job was conducted in similar fashion. The installation crew showed up on time, were competant & courteous & completed job on time. When completed, I was asked to walk the job to make sure the cleanup was acceptable. Not enough "cold" time has gone by for me to comment on the reduction in heating costs but as for the work, this outfit gets my unqualified recommendation."

"Dirk started the job of renovating in November of 2013. He did everything from removing all wallpaper from the walls, mold treatment , repainting with special paint to keep the mold from returning, to finishing the ceilings, to taking all of the windows ( 8) out, stripping repainting, repositioning, redoing the kitchenette from top to bottom, renovating both bathrooms, replacing part of the ceiling, cleaning the chimney, refinishing the mantelpiece, putting on new chimney caps, renovating all doors, replacing part of an outdoor door frame, putting on a new gutter, power washing the cottage, painting/putting up new shutters, fixing the siding, insulating the water pipes and small cupboard where they come into the structure...
It took him a year to finish the whole structure. Mind you he did all the work himself. He does/did not have a crew of workers with him.
Dirk works meticulously. His work is of an outstanding quality, no cutting corners anywhere, which sometimes may take longer timewise, but the end result is top notch and will not need any retouching for at least a couple of years.
I highly recommend him, especially if you want a top quality job. There are very few things that Dirk is not able to provide. 
I will most certainly hire him for future jobs, whether it will be for outside work or inside work.

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"This was all done towards the end of last year and the beginning of this year, so my memory of dates are questionable. What I can say for certain is that when we contacted Carefree Home Pros for information they responded immediately. At first we were only interested in roof and siding, but after being given information about radiant barriers and doing some Google searches we decided to go with the barriers as well as roof and siding. The people that came to do the actual work, different folks for each job, were fantastic. Incredibly polite, courteous and some of the hardest workers we've ever seen. All three jobs were done in a remarkably quick time. There were a couple days when weather did not allow any work to be performed, but that is beyond the control of mere humans. There were was one minor issue with the size of a couple 
of the new shutters being put on the house. Carefree came to look and before we even had gone outside to speak with them they had seen the problem and fully explained it to me before I had stepped outside. They immediately ordered two new shutters and in a little over a week they were up and the jobs were complete. The radiant barriers appear to be doing the job. Our oil usage this past winter in gallons used was less than the previous year. The price of Oil has gone up, so cost wise it may have been equal, but it would have been a lot more if the barriers, new roof and siding had not been installed. The air conditioner is now running and in this first heat wave it does not seem to be running as much as it would have last year. We've received many compliments on the appearance of out house. We are very pleased with the final results."
