"I hired this company to do an energy audit of our house, noting the HVAC system seemed to be working incorrectly, with vastly different temperatures on each floor - very cold below and very hot upstairs. I believed he would come to our house and assess the efficiency of how our house uses energy, perhaps look at the windows, skylights, the roof, insulation, and the HVAC system. In reality he took several hours to measure the air flow and temperature at each vent - concluding that very little air was distributed on the 2nd floor and a ton of air in the basement. The conclusion was the reason I hired him to begin with - we essentially knew this already and it was the problem we initially reported. He seemed puzzled about how the mechanical unit itself worked - maybe ours is unusual, but I doubt it, as it never came up in our home inspection or from other professionals who have worked on it. And the solutions offered were to 1. Stuff pillows in our vents in the basement to try to force air upstairs, and 2. Call an HVAC repair person He had no recommendations for professionals to call who could actually help. I also tried to discuss solar panels as an option for our house, which he seemed generally in favor of, but couldn t tell me if it was a good option for our house or who to call to consult on the issue. Overall the experience was disappointing and felt like a waste of time."
