"The guys from 4-Ever Water-Tite were great! Prior to contracting 4-Ever Water-Tite, I had problems with water and excess moisture in my basement. My basement walls were also pushing in laterally. They put in a perimeter drain system and a new sump pump. They also installed steel support beams to support the walls. I am happy to report that it has now been a full year since 4-Ever Water-Tite worked on waterproofing my basement and it has remained dry. I highly recommend this company."

"We contracted with JAM Home Services (Jeff) to repair and paint walls, ceilings and closets in the living/dining room and 3 bedrooms of our house. We also asked about installing base board where missing/damaged and also installing shoe molding in all rooms (we had just had carpeting removed and hardwood floors refinished), While his was not lowest estimate for the project, we were impressed with his knowledge, suggestions for successful completion and his professionalism. At our request, he suggested several colors that would work with the hardwood floors. We agreed on a start date, which had to be firm, to meet a specific timeline to place our house on the market. A week before start date, he checked in with us to be sure we still on schedule. As it happened, other projects were already completed, so he started a week earlier than planned and completed the project withing the 4 days he had originally estimated. We could not have been more pleased with the result! Each day, the work space was cleared and cleaned, except for drop cloths left to protect floors. He repaired a baseball-sized hole in the wall in one bedroom, repaired a crack in the plaster above a door in the living room, filled all nail holes. The paint on all ceilings, wall and closets was smooth and even - no messy corners or bleeding edges. The new base boards and and shoe molding were such great enhancements to the rooms. We highly recommend JAM Home Services for anyone with home repair or improvement project needs!"

"Jeff came out to my home on October 10, 2014 to give me a quote on installing tile on my laundry room floor.  He seemed nice and very knowledgeable and gave me a quote of $950  (compared to the other quotes I received ($1500 and $2000)).  I called him a few days later to schedule the work.  Though he was unsure exactly what day he could come out to my home, he assured me that he would be out to do the work no later than November 10th, about a month away.  I questioned on how firm that commitment was and he assured me that he would be out by then.
I heard nothing from Jeff.  So when November 10th rolled around I sent him a text message requesting him to contact me.  I heard nothing, but I waited.  So on November 20th I sent him another text message to let him know I was cancelling the job.  Even after that, I have not heard from Jeff.

"A builder that we use was surveying the exterior of our house to find any boards that were rotted so he could replace them prior to our exterior paint job.  He pointed out the many issues with our windows and insisted they be fixed prior to his work.  We were not surprised, this was a job we knew had to come sooner or later.  He recommended Metro Detroit Window.  Jeremiah, who goes by "J" called me and talked to me about his services.  We made an appointment and he arrived one weekday evening.  I learned more than I ever wanted about window repair and he seemed very passionate about his work so he gave me a quote.  We had a couple of windows repaired in the past so the price was reasonable to me, especially knowing the outrageous cost to have completely new windows installed by one of the major brands.
If my memory serves we contacted J sometime in October and the majority of the work was completed in November over two days.  More issues were discovered during the course of the work and more parts had to be ordered.  J  and his crew returned in January to complete the job.  This time the amount of work was small so they were gone in about 3 hours.  The entire process was drawn out due to weather and scheduling around the holidays.  They needed two days back to back without rain in order to complete the work so be prepared to make appointments and be flexible while watching the weather.  We had to reschedule the work twice and it was frustrating but a job this size is at the mercy of the weather as I learned.
All together I am very satisfied with the price and the quality of the work performed.  J and his crew are not only hard workers but they are very talented and knowledgeable.  They were fun to have around.  J's two boys were out of school one day while he was doing measurements at our house and he brought them and they ended up playing in the backyard with my two boys for over an hour.
The three double hung windows are fixed to my satisfaction on their last visit, but they found another issue in the hardware and explained why I should let them return and replace this hardware as well.  Bottom line is some of the hardware is getting old and if not replaced now, it would be failing sooner than later.  So I'll be having them come back when parts arrive.
I have some before and after pictures that I will be posting soon.

"Initial contact via email was on 9 August.
We scheduled a walk through for 3:00 on Saturday 17 August to explain all the
areas I wanted painted and what repairs I was requesting.   Bill was
delayed, but his wife called about an hour before the appointment time to ask me
if it was alright if they came an hour or two later.  She explained they
had a rush job they needed to complete.  The delay was alright with me as
I had things to do and wasn't inconvenienced by the delay.
Patterson's itemized quote was emailed to me on Monday, 19 August with
price break down and description of each area we had discussed. This was
wonderful in case I only wanted to do a portion of the work performed if things
came in over my budget. Also, I already had a quote from another company broken
down similarly which made it easy to compare prices.  These break downs by
job or room would allow me to use more than one contractor if pricing had been
an issue.
After comparing the 2 quotes, I chose Patterson Painting.
Both quotes pricing included the paint which was purchased by
contractor unless he was touching up a small area and I had existing paint.
Bill uses mostly Sherwin Williams as he prefers it due their durability
and coverage.
Bill had some available time before his next job, so we were able to start
quickly.
On the 20th I made a down payment (approximately 1/4 of the quote) for
supplies. He began painting and repairs the next day.  Sometimes it was
only Bill and occasionally he had a helper.  Both were great painters,
cleaned up daily, were quiet and hardly knew they were in the house.
I loved the fact that the paint had NO odor too!
When about 3/4 of the work was completed satisfactorily, I submitted another
payment of about 1/2 the quoted total.  The final payment was made today
when work was completed.  I had, as often happens, found 2-3 things additional
to be painted and again, Bill was at or under my previous quotes.
My only "negative" comment is that when he was not able to come as
scheduled, we were not always notified right away.
Do not be misled by the company name.  Patterson Painting can do much more
than paint. Bill is a handy man who can also fix many other things
(woodwork, sheet rock, tile, etc.).  He was helpful to get me contacts for
complete destruction and replacement of my small cracked concrete porch and a seam
repair of my generic Corian countertop.
We had several full days of work, but not necessarily all sequential due to
either his other commitments or mine.  I was not in a big hurry, so it was
okay with me.
I will be contacting him again soon to quote some more work including painting
my garage and replacing some kitchen and bathroom tile."

"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

FAQs for carpentry framing installation projects in Hazel Park, MI

Both steel and wood can last over 100 years with proper care. However, wood could rot or warp when exposed to moisture, whereas galvanized steel is rotproof, insect-proof, and much more fire-resistant. Steel is friendlier to the environment as it doesn’t require cutting down trees, and the frame can be recycled. The energy-efficiency rating of metal stud framing can be higher than conventional wood construction. Metal studs are easier and quicker to install.

Whether you’re using wood or metal stud framing, follow the “16 on center” rule, meaning you should have a stud every 16 inches. A 20-foot wall spans a total of 320 inches. This works out to 20 spans of 16 inches, plus one starting stud, for a total requirement of 21 studs to frame a 20-foot wall.

Drywall installation costs $1.15 to $2 per square foot on metal stud framing or $2,300 for an average 2,000-square-foot house. The total cost for metal framing and drywall ranges from $20 to $30 per linear foot. Metal frames often seem light, but they can be exceptionally strong once drywall or sheathing is attached.
