"Jim and partner Don, and their crew did a fantastic, professional job.  From the detailed estimate to the finished product, they were prompt and kept us informed of when they would be working, when any problems or changes needed to be discussed, and even detected and fixed very inexpensively a structural problem with our deck.  They redesigned our stairs off our deck to provide access to both the yard and the area below the deck.  It is very functional and solid. No problems at all.  They also built and installed two gates on the stairs to keep our dog corralled.  We looked into others for this work and found them to be reasonably priced and highly recommended.  They even took us to another job site to show us the quality of their work.  Jim is truly a quality professional and individual and has provided other advise about some home issues.  If you call him, you will be very impressed and happy you did.  I highly recommend him.

"Art Freewalt is demanding of his people that they do things the way he wants, and he is picky, to his customers' benefit.  To say we are pleased is an understatement.  The results are so beautiful it's hard to believe they are the same rooms in the same house.
A gentleman named Josh was given responsibility for the carpentry/drywall/tile work, and he proved skilled at all those. He used
drop cloths to minimize the dust and dirt inside the house, and he cleaned up well.  Josh is easy going and quite concerned about doing what needs done to accomplish what the homeowner wants.  He also looked out for us in the sense of finding and fixing several problems that date back to the original construction of our house.  The most memorable of those was a weight-bearing joist that had been sawn through to provide a place to run a drain pipe(!).  He was able to repair/reinforce/replace as necessary when problems were discovered.
Josh did a fine job with the ceramic tile we chose for all floors and walls.  He has a very nice sense for decorative tile placement.  He would call my wife in an show her the way he wanted to place them, and in all 3 rooms his ideas were right on.
Art estimates the job, but his practice is to bill by the hour.  He visits with his customers weekly to discuss the work, present a bill
and receives a check.  This worked well for us as we had the unforeseen problems mentioned earlier, and we added some "Hey, would you mind..." items to the do-list after the work started.  For the downstairs 1/2 bath, once the floor tiles were in, we decided to extend the tile run from the bathroom about 5 1/2 feet through the laundry area to the main hall.  And, we decided to have Josh remove the damaged dark paneling from behind the washer & dryer and replace it with painted drywall. Both were good decisions.  There were a few other oh-by-the-way items as well.  Since Art bills by the hour, we didn't have to renegotiate the job to cover the increased hours for problem fixing and extra work.
Art and Josh both proved to be honest, straight-up guys who worked hard to provide what we wanted, and we'd be happy to have
them work for us again.

FAQs for flooring install, repair, or refinish projects in Hot Springs Village, AR

Removing tile flooring is a messy job. Expect flying chip fragments, mortar dust, and plenty of debris. Protect the space with plastic sheeting and drop cloths, and gear up with goggles and a respirator before you start prying. Pros keep the mess in check by attaching industrial vacuums to their tools, a setup that captures dust at the source and leaves the work zone far cleaner than a DIY approach.

Removing the old tile first is almost always the smarter play. If you tile over worn or uneven flooring, the new surface can crack, pop, or sit higher than the surrounding rooms. Fixing that later costs far more, especially if you need to re-level the floor. By demoing the tile now, you get a flat, solid subfloor and avoid surprise repairs down the road.
