"We were fortunate to find this company. Our concerns going in cold to the HVAC scene in Austin were numerous. We wanted more from a contractor than just a sale/install . Jon and crew were able to offer a comprehensive plan for our home. The project began with a blower door test to get baseline data as to how much air was being lost. After sealing leaks, repairing and reinsulating ducts the team was able to control the new (York) compressor and plenum. Jon made all the arrangements for Austin Energy site visits and final inspections. Two days for install. The members of my family are surprised when they look at the thermostats setting. Turn it up it's too cold is the normal refrain. If you are shopping for a contractor you may want to ask if they can do an energy audit as well as an install. Austin Star are the real deal!"

"Butch called back right away. Came out in a timely fashion. Got one unit working. Then he said the main board was malfunctioning on the downstairs unit and would have to be replaced. It would cost 1200 or 1300. But if we spent a little extra on a service contract he would wave the trip fee and it would be 1100 something. Okay. We did that. It was too late for him to get the board that day so he came out the next day to install the board. But the unit still didn't come on. He said the thermostat was bad and it would we 300 to 500 to replace the thermostat depending on what we wanted. My husband told him we could do that ourselves. Just by pass it and get the unit working. Then he came down and said that the blower motor was out and it would be 1800 to replace the blower motor or 2400 to just replace the whole unit and then we'd be under warranty again. I told them I wanted a second opinion before we did that. I called Ed & Sons they came out, confirmed that we did need a new thermostat. And said they could rebuild the blower motor for around 100$. I ordered two new thermostats for 300 for both of them and my husband installed the thermostats. The work they did was fine. But I felt like they were more of the school of let's just replace parts until it works or we can sell them a new unit. Rather than what can we fix."

It was not carelessness but a poor design by the builder of the home. Anyway, they agreed to fix it and the damage it caused, without any need for me to make a lot of noise. My only complaint was that the repair was long and drawn out taking 4 or 5 visits to complete and the repairman was good but never came on schedule."
