"We needed retrofit wall insulation and after checking around all the listings through AngiesList, Yelp, and others, we found that only Bay Valley and SDI does retrofit wall insulation work. We went with Bay Valley because the price was reasonable and they responded quickly and promptly (can't say this about SDI*). Joel was our estimator and he came out promptly at the time and date indicated. He was thorough and thoughtful on how he approached the job, not overselling or recommending things we didn't need. We live in an older house and he appreciated the home and looked for the most non-invasive method to take care of our un-insulated exterior walls. Bay Valley's approach is to come in from the exterior walls with the typical 2-hole process (high/low) to blow in the cellulose insulation. They sent two guys in and despite a couple snags in the job, they finished the job in one full day. Afterwards, they plugged the holes, textured and primed, and the next day came in to paint (our-supplied) paint. I was really amazed how well and seamless it all looked afterwards. They did a good job cleaning and even moved the cabinets in the garage back where they originally were. The real result? The mornings have been a little bit warmer than last week, but so far the heater has barely turned on over the past couple days. The house already feels warmed and less temperature fluctuations. We already got brand-new attic insulation last Fall, but the wall insulation really did the trick. A definite recommend to anyone who needs a good team to do insulation in their home. * dealing with SDI was a nightmare, unfortunately. With *several* calls about being in the ER, then lots of other excuses, it just didn't seem like they wanted to do the job or something. I originally made the request in August and this morning on Nov 10, I got a phone call inquiring if we still needed insulation done. sigh."

"When Insulation Alliance came, they were very professional. They laid down plastic everywhere in the hallway and the bedroom. They cleaned out the whole attic. They took out the old insulation and put in the new Insulation which was R 44. They cleaned up everything and everything was clean when they left. They also sanitized the attic. Then she was extremely accommodating when we had to delay installation due to a roof leak. The crew was fastidious, and impossibly quiet. Hardly knew they were there. "This was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had dealing with home repair work.  The story went as follows: <br /> 1) I searched Angie's List for top rated HVAC shops <br /> 2) Talked to 3 of them.  Really enjoyed my conversations first with Kelly (I think) and then Cathy from Residential. They were very helpful, and super pleasant.  This set a great tone initially. <br /> 3) Jim arrived on time and even called in advance to let me know he was coming.  When he arrived he too was really friendly and got to work immediately.  He brought shoe booties that I appreciate. <br /> 4) After about 10 min Jim told us that the likely culprit was a loose bolt on the blower fan.  He was able to fix it without removing the housing. <br /> 5) We then talked about the furnace.  Since the furnace was old he made sure we had CO detectors in place and we then talked about new furnaces and AC equipment.  While the appt was only 30 min, Jim spent another 30 advising us on everything from house fans to new insulation.  I didn't feel Jim was 'selling' rather, he was advising, which I really appreciate. <br /> 6) Cathy later followed up based on our request within a couple of days. <br /> Overall, I am extremely pleased with my experience with Residential, so much so, that they are coming back to do an energy assessment.  Definitely 5 stars! <br /> Darren <br />"
