"Called another company I was familiar with but had to pursue them for 5 days! No heat and told it was best to replace the entire unit by 3rd day and they'd order the parts (3 men, 4 hours, & $3k was what I was told). Finally, decided it was too much suffering and temps were dropping. Called Relax Air and he came within the hour, did a thorough analysis. Very professional. The final outcome was one of 3 parts were broken. Also a parts dealer, returned with the parts and tried each one. It was the module, fixed in one day, and for under $1k. He also checked/fixed the humidifier (which said initial company said they did upon initial repair visit and 2 yrs ago for regular maintenance) and adjusted the heating so the house is now perfectly balanced. "Overall McCrea did a good job with my Sept 23, 2019, HVAC installation. The POSITIVES significantly outweigh the negatives: · They had the best price out of 6 proposals. · They agreed to add an additional HVAC return to the basement free of charge ($250). · They leveled my second old existing heat pump without asking...free of charge…I really liked that. · They told me that Fairfax county does a free inspection upon request. I’ve never had an installer tell me this…it is not in their interest to do so. The county inspection was primarily electrical but it was good to have even that independently reviewed. · They responded within 2 hours after I called about an installation problem. It turned out a condensate PVC pipe was installed wrong and tripped a cutoff switch. Everyone makes mistakes. I give them credit on this one because they responded quickly and repaired it quickly. · I requested a Trane and NATE certified installer and McCrea sent out Greg Dworchak who, along with 2 others did an excellent job. They were competent and friendly and answered all my questions very well. One NEGATIVE: · I liked the first sales person (Kris Kimmmel) who gave the initial proposal...very professional and friendly. My only concern was that he went on vacation and the follow up was slow. He did tell me he would be on vacation with limited email access. I emailed my intention to move forward on the proposal by the required date but the response was too late to get the significant Trane rebate. Weeks later I received a call from another representative (Chris Aiani) and he provided an acceptable proposal although it was a lower SEER unit (XR14) instead of the XR16i I originally wanted. Chris apologized to me about this and said they were re-organizing to provide more sales support and that this should not happen again."

"Patrick (Territory Manager - Salesman) was thorough, professional, courteous, and punctual. He clearly laid out options/products and provided all necessary company information. Modern Mechanical pushes Lennox brand equipment, which is a solid product based on my research and what I have seen so far. The equipment (variable speed air handler, 17 SEER outdoor unit, water heater) were installed in about a week from the time of purchase. Installer was experienced, efficient, clean and thorough. A couple of issues came up during/after install - including the need for an upgraded thermostat (to control the advanced air handler), the need for a converter box due to existing old aluminum wire, additional duct work to handle added air pressures, loud initial air movement, etc. Each of these issues were identified and handled immediately by Modern Mechanical, at no additional cost to me. Also of note, during installation, my sump pump was inadvertently damaged. I notified Patrick, and within 1 hour a plumber from Modern Mechanical was at my door with a new pump and was promptly installed -- free of charge. I can't say enough about the company; great people, great products, excellent customer service."
