"Gerry was running late for my appointment to clean and inspect two A/C units. He called to let me know . That's a real big plus.... He didn't waste my time. Once he arrived , the work was done quietly , quickly and at what I thought was a fair price. I will call him if I need service in the future."

"From start to finish, NETR did a fantastic job. I met 3-4 other vendors, and they didn't come close to NETR's responsiveness, professionalism, or timeliness. NETR earned my business before I even got a quote from some of the others. The salesman, Mark, arrived on time, was respectful & attentive to what we needed, explained our options well, and provided a competitive quote before he left my home. NETR also offered a 5-year 0% interest loan for the project (via a relationship with GreenSky). It took only a few days to schedule installation. The installers were prompt, professional, respectful of our property, and did an excellent job installing the electrical components, compressor, branch box, and 5 heads. They did a nice job of consolidating and hiding the lines on the outside of the house. This past year, we've worked with many contractors, some good, some terrible, so I can compare. NETR was one of the best, and I would hire them for my next project in a heartbeat. "

"My furnace needed to be replaced. I got a few bids and Matt RPM got the job. He was meticulous in his work! He reviewed with me what I needed to know. He left the area cleaner than he arrived and over time if I had a question he was quick to reply. I would hire him again in a minute!!"

"No invoice transparency at Sila Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical. I had an appointment on February 16, 2026, to troubleshoot a no-heat issue on the second floor of my home. I was told the repair would be $1,500. Although hesitant, I agreed to proceed because I needed heat. The repair was completed, I paid $1,524.90, and the technician left. I later realized I had not been provided with an invoice, so I called the company directly at 781 438 4114. The person who answered the phone emailed me an invoice. The invoice listed an HVAC diagnostic fee of $69.00, followed by ?HYD 170,? with no price or itemized breakdown provided. I understand that professional services and parts can incur significant costs, it is unreasonable that the part alone could account for the entire charge without any supporting documentation. I respectfully requested a detailed breakdown of the invoice through multiple phone calls and emails; however, the responses I received were dismissive and failed "

FAQs for heat pump repair or service projects in Newburyport, MA

Heat pumps move air to cool or warm your home during different seasons. In cold weather, they extract heat from the outdoors and bring it inside to warm your home. In warm weather, they remove heat from your home to keep it cool. This efficient heat transfer increases indoor comfort, improves energy efficiency, and reduces the need for additional heating systems.

Replacing a heat pump costs between $4,200 and $7,900. The actual cost depends on the type of heat pump. Geothermal models are the most expensive to replace, with the price of the unit plus labor ranging between $6,000 and $20,000. Air source models cost between $4,500 and $8,000 to replace, while the replacement costs for a mini split unit run between $1,300 and $8,000.

The average heat pump is designed to last about 14 years, roughly the same as a central air conditioning system (12 to 15 years). Newer models can last 20 years or more. How long your heat pump lasts depends on how frequently you use it and whether you perform routine maintenance like annual tuneups.
