Then I tried a company recommended by a friend -they only take out of hours calls from existing customers. I couldn't find a reputable well rated company searching the web. I tried HomeAdvisor and found two companies. Aire Serv had 4.5 star rating. I reached out. It was sunday. They responded quickly with an offer to come out that day. I didn't get the message through HomeAdvisor until a few hours later by which time it was too late. The owner, Harvey, offered to talk me through manually opening the zone valve. "Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. I would recommend this company to my family./friends and will use again."

At 10:30am, he was in my driveway. At 11:15am, everything was replaced, working better than ever. Along the way, he showed me how to shut the water off to the house quickly if I ever needed to again, and also found a small drip in our main line that he recommended I call the Water District about.
