"When American Jewel installed the door I gave them A grades as I thought they did an excellent job.  But after using the door for a few weeks I noticed the dead bolt didn't close completely, but only about 2/3, and also noticed the screen door was no longer aligned properly, so although it closed and looked right, the door was slightly off and it would no longer lock.  I called American Jewel and they scheduled the installer to return and make the minor corrections.  The installer did not show up.  When I called American Jewel again, they did not return my calls. I complained to Angie's List, and via their complaint resolution process American Jewel contacted me.  They were very apologetic and attributed it to a mix up, accepted responsibility and sent the installer to my home to make the minor corrections.  I would use American Jewel again, despite this hiccup, as my wife and I like the door they installed, feel we received excellent value, and ultimately American Jewel followed through on the minor problems I described and corrected them all."

That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"I dealt with Sears and Home Depot all morning trying to arrange for a same-day install of a new water heater.  Sears didn't have the models in stock that they quoted and the quote at Home Depot kept changing and I was very dissatisfied with the second person I dealt with who seemed to be very slow and lacking in knowledge. In frustration and desperation, I called Green Homes and the person I dealt with (Maggie) was wonderful.  She told me they could have someone out here by 3pm (I didn't call them until almost noon), she took basic information and gave me a firm quote that included everything (no extras or add ons).The truck arrived a little before 3.  They discussed with me what  they were going to do, told me they would be done in about 2 hours.  In two hours, they were done,  they installed a new water heater,installed a new shut off valve for the hot water, it was immaculate, the old one was gone, instructed me how to use it and that was that.  It was one of the best experiences I have ever had from beginning to end.  The price was exactly as they quoted.  The guarantee was for two years labor and ten years parts - better than any quoted. "AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."
