"Scheduling was a breeze. Technician - Tim - on time and completed service in an efficient manner. Tim is knowledgeable of the workings of all systems and quick to point out things to keep an eye out for. He has worked on our systems for several years. Based on our experience with Climatemakers, they were the first one that my son called when his HVAC needed work and ultimately replacement,"

"Had the A/C quit working in my rental property and I was out of town. I contacted PLE and the system was repaired the same day and the repair cost was very reasonable. I would recommend these guys to anyone that needs their heat or A/C fixed and done right the first time."

"No work was done. When he got here they arrived without their truck which didn't bode well. Dana and one assistant arrived on time and inspected the house and said we had various problems with our ducts including mold throughout, and they had never been cleaned. One they said couldn't be cleaned because it was "rusted through". And even thoughI could not see daylight; they said insulation prevented that. Even then, I felt they could go forward. I just felt throughout this process they didn't want to do this job? For reference: The house was built In the 80's and we bought it in 2010. We had rented out the house for two years and came back To severe respiratory problems we thought was from severe damage to the house's flooring from the tenants' pets and kids. We have never missed an HVAC appointment on our house. It is inspected and cleaned twice yearly, by we have never had the ducts cleaned. I advised him we had asthmatics and really needed this done to make this house liveable. He refused to do even a Partial job calling that " 1/2 measures " not understanding 1/2 done would be better than nothing for us. Also, Having been quoted $495, he then advised us we had mold throughout our system which was RARE and not only would we have to leave our house, it would take all day to treat and clean and be significantly more expensive. No price was quoted. I would have heard him out had he given me one. Again, He didn't appear to want to clean the ducts in my house. At that point, I felt they needed to leave. My time was wasted in this process. What they found: They found a rusted through duct, that may have had "poop" in it from renters. His employee lifted out Some mass of stuff which looked rusty. This wasn't a pleasant inspection. He wanted me to look in all the vents myself, which I refused to do because I am allergic. That's why I hired him. In the end, he confirmed the ducts were in fact very dirty. Having just now read through these glowing comments, I can see most everyone had mold, so in fact his findings are not that rare! Also, I advised him as he was leaving that we should have been advised of the potential for a much higher price and the potential need for us to leave for the day so we could have made arrangements on a hot day with young children and animals. Where are going to go? The only good part: we didn't spend any money, but he wasted my time!"

"Replaced ice maker drive motor, reset water feed hose to ice maker, installed new water pump and installed ice maker auger. Service involved 3 visits. Tyler was tech for each trip. Very pleasant and professional. Scheduling appointments was easy and people were very friendly. Saved me from shopping for new appliance."

"It went well.  Fair price, good quality Bryant units.   They did encounter some unforeseen obstacles when replacing the HVAC units, related to poor past contractor work before I bought this house, but they responded appropriately, made things right.  ....Every job has the potential to be more or less challenging for a variety of reasons.  I like that they respond and tried to work with me.  For this reason, I can confidently say to other members that you should use them because if anything unexpected pops up, they will rise to the occasion.

"After being told by a number of workers (i.e. electrician and Verizon guy) that it felt really cold under our house, we purchased the Angie's List promotion for an air duct inspection thinking we only needed a few patches. I was able to schedule the inspection for that same week and as it turns out, we needed our entire air duct system replaced. The ducts were damaged and laying on the ground under our house. They'd also (apparently) been invaded by rodents and/or snakes. Fun! The inspector gave a quote right then and there and scheduled the job to start the next day. He said it would most likely take 4 days to complete and we'd be without air conditioning for one day while they sanitized the crawl space. The guys from ADC got started the next morning and in just two short days, we were all set! The workers were polite and professional the entire time they were at our home. They sent pictures of the work when it was fully installed. Overall, we are happy with the speed of the service and their professionalism from start to finish."

FAQs for central humidifier installation and replacement projects in Portsmouth, VA

A crawl space dehumidifier is a worthwhile investment, particularly in humid climates or if you've noticed musty odors, mold growth, or wood deterioration. Though costs range from $3,000 to $9,200, this investment helps prevent structural damage that could require far more expensive repairs later. Beyond structural protection, a properly dehumidified crawl space contributes to better overall indoor air quality and may reduce allergens throughout your home. Consider having a professional assessment to determine if your specific situation warrants this investment.

Addressing crawl space moisture effectively often requires a combination of solutions. A complete approach includes encapsulation plus dehumidifier installation. For minor moisture issues, a basic dehumidifier starting at $1,500 may suffice, while severe problems in larger spaces could require systems costing up to $14,000. The most effective moisture control strategy depends on your specific conditions, making a professional assessment valuable for determining the most cost-effective approach for your situation.

For a crawl space measuring 1,500 square feet, you'll need a dehumidifier with a daily capacity of 30 to 50 pints, with unit costs ranging from $150 to $600. Your local climate and existing moisture levels may necessitate adjusting this capacity—homes in particularly humid regions might benefit from higher-capacity units. Professional installers can measure your specific humidity conditions and recommend equipment that is appropriately sized, balancing initial cost with operating efficiency for your unique situation.

Crawl space dehumidifiers add $300 to $500 to your annual electricity expenses when operating continuously. Energy-efficient models reduce this consumption by roughly 15 to 30% compared to standard units. Most contemporary dehumidifiers feature humidity sensors that automatically cycle operation based on current conditions, helping manage energy usage. Proper crawl space encapsulation significantly improves efficiency by creating a controlled environment that requires less dehumidifier runtime, thereby reducing ongoing electricity costs.
