Chris was my technician, explained what was going on and took on the tremendous work of replacing my front line. He was going to make sure that it would get done so I would have water that day. "The three men repaired the leak.  I have not had to have similar work done before, so I don't know how to evaluate the overall quality of the work.  The water leak was solved.  However, there were several things that I did not like about how the workman did the work.  I guess they thought they had me at a weak point, because they did a hard sell to get me to buy a premium plumbing inspection package that they claimed would qualify me for lower price on parts (I do not know whether they did in fact give me the lower price that they promised because the invoice was difficult to read.  To do the bypass of the broken pipe, the workmen had to cut four holes in the drywall.  The holes they cut seemed rougher (and thus more difficult and costly for me to get repaired) than would have been necessary.  One hole needed to be cut in the drywall behind my almost new water heater.  They pressured me into buying a new water heater, saying that it would cost the same to install a new water heater as to putting the existing water heater back after completing the bypass.  I don't think that was actually true.  During the two days that the men were working to bypass the broken pipe, a nice compact pump that I had to inflate my auto tires disappeared from the counter top where I had it stored near my back door.  Also, to test that the bypass had solved the leak, one of the men poured water from a bottle he had been drinking out of into my water line.  That was an unsanitary and I felt disrespectful act.

"What started out as a simple upgrade ended up being a more difficult job than anticipated. However, Paul was very flexible and creative and was able to complete both jobs in two visits, which included an extensive search for parts. For job one, I wanted to replace two corroded Moen pop-ups and purchased the parts on-line. However, the pop-ups had the wrong thread for the existing drain, so Paul found the correct parts and installed the new drains and pop-ups. On one sink, the standard drain pipe was too long for the existing J-trap, so Paul replaced the J-trap to match the drain length. This job required two trips to buy parts as problems were discovered. For job 2, I wanted to have a high-loop installed on my dishwasher drain to prevent backflow of dirty water from the sink drain and disposal. Paul noted that the existing copper supply line to the dishwasher would have a high risk of leaking, and recommended replacement with a flexible steel line. In addition, Paul could not find a drain line long enough for my installation, but was able to get the right adapters to make the existing line work in a high loop configuration.

"We were told by Fidelity National Home Warranty, who hired this provider that they would be at our home on Thursday, October 30, 2014 to perform the check on the gas leaks and make repairs where needed.  We got a call from their plumber, who informed us that they would be out to our residence that morning around 8:30 AM.  We waited all day, and finally decided to call their office, and where told that they had a plumbing emergency and would still come out to our residence.  Finally, the plumber did show up, but it was late at around 5:00 P.M. to again inform us that there was an emergency he had to attend to, and would come back on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at around 8:00 A.M.  This left us three days without gas, so far.
Saturday came, no-call and no-show, until we finally made a call to the emergency number to find out what was going on!  After we called to inquire about his whereabouts on Saturday, he finally showed up at around 2:00 P.M.  He did checked the furnaces, fireplace and appliances, and did find a leak under the counter top stove.  He fixed the leak.  He then did a pressure check at the meter, and found that it did not hold pressure.  He stated that there might be a leak behind the walls in the house.  We reminded him that the gas lamp at the end of our driveway was found to be leaking gas also, but according to Fidelity National Home Warranty, this would have to be handled independently by the homeowner.   We were told he would get back with us on Monday, November 3, 2014. As of today, we haven't heard from Veteran Plumbing and Drain.  We have had to track them down during this whole process!  They didn't call and let us know that they were not going to show up or would be late!  We have had to call every time to find out our status with them.  We still don't have our gas turned back on, because they never followed-up!  I did pay the service fee of $65.00 due them.   We have just been stood up!  We are now six days without gas!

The provider did not charge extra labor for the additional drain piping work or the other sink strainer.
The whole thing was within the cost range from the stated cost on their website, which is nice for simpler jobs like this.
