"Same day service which was greatly appreciated. Dave detailed his services for me so I could understand what the issues were. Air Systems has been my go to company for six years. They also updated the very old AC and heating equipment 5 years ago."

"We has bids from four different companies to replace both our AC and Heating units. Cool Mark (owned by Mark) was not the cheapest, but they did offer the best warranty and extras (filters, two year service). Plus, Mark himself was the most straightforward and friendly professional. The bids for the job with 4 ton units were from a high of $18,000 ot a low of about $10,500. We also asked for bids on blown-in insulation, and they ranged from Mark’s $3,000 to a high of $6,000. Mark did an analysis of our home’s needs (it is 2975 SF) and we all decided it needed a 5 ton system. We initially agreed on a Trane system, but they were backed up with AC units, and the job had to be delayed a few weeks. In the interim, Mark came over 3 or 4 times to top off our Freon, for no charge, so that we were never uncomfortable. Eventually, because of Trane delays, we agreed on a 5-ton Amana system that actually has a lifetime warranty on both cooling and heating units (Trane was 10 years). Mark’s crew came over exactly when he said they would today, and stayed all day ensuring the system was working/cooling properly. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Cool Mark Heating & Air; work is excellent, professional, friendly and, in our case, very cost effective. I should note that the total cost for the complete 5-ton, 16 SEER AC/Heating PLUS the blown-in insulation, plus WiFi thermostat (Honeywell) was LESS than (by over $3,000) the initial estimate we got from one company for a 4-ton unit with a much less extensive warranty. If you need a new system, or just ongoing service, call Mark at Cool Mark!"

"This is unquestionably the best AC/Heating Co that I have used in SA in 30 yrs. They provide prompt, honest and professional service at a great price. They replaced my coil and converted my system to a heat pump for 30% less than 3 other companies. Please try them. You will be glad you did."

"I had them clear my condensate line on my AC. They showed up on time and did that work sufficiently. All is good on step one. The issue arose when I asked them to do a full maintenance check on my AC/furnace since I had been having intermittent issues with my heating coming on. And, unsurprisingly, they said that the repairs would have been in the thousands of dollars and my only realistic option would be to replace the whole unit. A few days ago I was able to completely resolve my heating issues by Googling the problem and subsequently doing a manual re-start on my Nest smart thermostat. Problem resolved by a flip of the switch and I saved 3K+ dollars by not listening to their expert advice. So, my only recommendation to anyone reading this is to ensure that when you hire big commercial AC company repair companies like Enoch, go into it with your eyes wide open. They do not pay a bunch of money for leads because they want to repair your system. That is simply the excuse to get their foot in the door. They want to find an older unit and sell you a new AC unit every time if possible. That is where the big bucks are in this business, not in repair. By and btw, I am confident that they would do a great job installing new systems. But there is little regulation of this industry and no incentive for them to just fix the issue and buy you another few years when they could cash in by telling you that your issue is beyond repair. Notice how most of their reviews here are about installing new units. That is because that is primarily what they advise everyone to do; And people trust them. Here is my expert consumer advice: 1. NEVER buy an AC/heat pump from the initial company that comes out to repair the unit and then tells you that you have no choice but to replace your unit. All you are doing is incentivizing bad behavior. 2. Get a second opinion from another AC company. If they diagnose the exact same thing, then ask for a full replacement bid. Then, advise them that they are competing. 3. Come back to Home Advisor and post that you need a new AC/heat pump and provide the exact size and model number. Then collect the bids, check previous reviews to ensure the company is reliable, and then select the most inexpensive offer. If you make them compete, you will typically save somewhere between 30-40% of replacement costs. Good luck but BUYER BEWARE."

"Butch called back right away. Came out in a timely fashion. Got one unit working. Then he said the main board was malfunctioning on the downstairs unit and would have to be replaced. It would cost 1200 or 1300. But if we spent a little extra on a service contract he would wave the trip fee and it would be 1100 something. Okay. We did that. It was too late for him to get the board that day so he came out the next day to install the board. But the unit still didn't come on. He said the thermostat was bad and it would we 300 to 500 to replace the thermostat depending on what we wanted. My husband told him we could do that ourselves. Just by pass it and get the unit working. Then he came down and said that the blower motor was out and it would be 1800 to replace the blower motor or 2400 to just replace the whole unit and then we'd be under warranty again. I told them I wanted a second opinion before we did that. I called Ed & Sons they came out, confirmed that we did need a new thermostat. And said they could rebuild the blower motor for around 100$. I ordered two new thermostats for 300 for both of them and my husband installed the thermostats. The work they did was fine. But I felt like they were more of the school of let's just replace parts until it works or we can sell them a new unit. Rather than what can we fix."

FAQs for heat pump repair or service projects in Spring-Branch, TX

Heat pumps move air to cool or warm your home during different seasons. In cold weather, they extract heat from the outdoors and bring it inside to warm your home. In warm weather, they remove heat from your home to keep it cool. This efficient heat transfer increases indoor comfort, improves energy efficiency, and reduces the need for additional heating systems.

Replacing a heat pump costs between $4,200 and $7,900. The actual cost depends on the type of heat pump. Geothermal models are the most expensive to replace, with the price of the unit plus labor ranging between $6,000 and $20,000. Air source models cost between $4,500 and $8,000 to replace, while the replacement costs for a mini split unit run between $1,300 and $8,000.

The average heat pump is designed to last about 14 years, roughly the same as a central air conditioning system (12 to 15 years). Newer models can last 20 years or more. How long your heat pump lasts depends on how frequently you use it and whether you perform routine maintenance like annual tuneups.
