"Great!! Two different handymen, two different occasions. Both men were professional and friendly. Replacing the interior door took some time, and it was worth it! Dean was meticulous (and went up and down the stairs so many times) to make sure the door fit properly in the frame and opened easily over the carpet (which the previous door never did). Separately our front stoop needed repair - pulling off the existing stone/brick that was deteriorating and replacing it with bluestone. James does beautiful work - he is a master in masonry. Coming out of lockdown and having both men show up with all the necessary PPE put me at ease - they were being very careful and following all the guidelines. I've already scheduled them for more work. Well worth the price!!"

"I hired Ryan and Indigo Construction for a complete garage transformation, including renovation, painting, framing, drywall repair, removal of old debris, attic insulation, electrical work, LED lighting installation, trim work, attic ladder installation, and epoxy flooring. Overall, I had a positive experience working with Ryan. He was responsive, communicated well throughout the project, and was willing to answer questions and discuss different options as the work progressed. The crew arrived when expected, kept the project moving, and completed the work within a reasonable timeframe. The finished garage came out great. The epoxy floor has a clean, professional appearance and completely transformed the space. The lighting, trim, and attic ladder installation also turned out well and really tied the project together. "Everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Ricardo came out promptly to give me an estimate. I had several water stains from plants that had sat for years in the room. He said he would try to repair my floor with sanding but if necessary several pieces could be replaced. I was pleasantly surprised that all the stains are gone and you would never know there had been any damage. He also suggested replacing my old metal vent grills with new wood vents. I think the floor looks much more consistent with my new wood vents. A good suggestion I would not have known about. Workers were pleasant and professional. Experience was stress free. I would recommend Five Star Flooring and use them again."

"Jim first built the supports for the porch roof, he then removed the support pillars, the railing, the floor boards.  On inspection, the Beams and Joists were not to spec, he came and discussed replacing the beams and joists, and gave an estimate for the replacement.  On agreement, the lumber was ordered and provided.  The foundations were inspected after the removal of the framework, we had epected the beams and joists to be replaced, but not the foundations which were the original from around 100 years ago.  New foundations were placed with modern materials.  The work took just over two weeks and it was hot ... we only had to deal with Jim the owner, he provided a detail estimate at the start of the job, and detailed estimates for the add ons, all of which were detailed and within the budget.  The original estimate was $13,000, at the end with changes the final cost was just under $17,000 and worth every penny.  I will say we did not have to do anything, Jim worked with the city for permits, we just provided checks as needed.  Kim has followed up on his work letting us know when we need to oil the porch deck and wax the ends.  I would hire Jim for almost any job."

"Initial person was too chatty, too much information, overwhelming. Later more succinct. Workers who did test & insulation (blower door test to reveal air leaks). Workmen were sufficient and polite. Two years later discovered they had caulked Marvin windows which should NOT be caulked in order to wash them w/ moveable parts. It cost me $175 to have them repaired or caulking removed. This was done & I submitted a bill 11/13/14 and have not been reimbursed yet. Have called 2x's to remind, last time man said he thought it was done and he would see about it. That was 3 weeks ago the last time and 7 weeks from the first reminder. It is now 2/24/15."

"When American Jewel installed the door I gave them A grades as I thought they did an excellent job.  But after using the door for a few weeks I noticed the dead bolt didn't close completely, but only about 2/3, and also noticed the screen door was no longer aligned properly, so although it closed and looked right, the door was slightly off and it would no longer lock.  I called American Jewel and they scheduled the installer to return and make the minor corrections.  The installer did not show up.  When I called American Jewel again, they did not return my calls. I complained to Angie's List, and via their complaint resolution process American Jewel contacted me.  They were very apologetic and attributed it to a mix up, accepted responsibility and sent the installer to my home to make the minor corrections.  I would use American Jewel again, despite this hiccup, as my wife and I like the door they installed, feel we received excellent value, and ultimately American Jewel followed through on the minor problems I described and corrected them all."
