On June 13, my air conditioner that services my upstairs failed (breaker kept tripping).  Called my home warranty company (Choice Home Warranty) and they assigned AL Comfort Experts to troubleshoot/diagnose issue.

On June 15, AL Comfort Experts came out as scheduled and identified that my compressor had locked up.  They reported this to Choice Home Warranty to effect repair/replacement of the compressor but CHW stated to me that it was reported that my unit was  'not well maintained' by AL Comfort Experts.  I contacted AL Comfort Experts and they not only told me they reported my unit had been 'well maintained', they also wrote/sent me a letter to that effect.  My issues lie with my warranty company, not with AL Comfort Experts.  I had several conversations with the owner Terry, for we both were a bit irritated with CHW. 

So, after several days of fighting with CHW over getting my unit repaired under warranty, it became clear that they would not replace my failed compressor, despite me providing them with almost 6 years of records of maintenance.  They actually told me if it had been serviced the week before, they still would not cover it.

It was through my conversations with Terry that I found them to have a high level of integrity.  AL Comfort Experts is a wonderful family owned company with many years of experience.  I found them to be very honest, forthright about the issues with my air conditioner and they provided me with a couple of options (repair or replace).  After comparing the costs, it was clear that replacement of my Trane compressor (proprietary and expensive), it was much better to do pretty much a complete replacement, as my current unit was 15 years old.  Made no sense to repair at this point.

On June 23rd, Terry (owner) of AL Comfort Experts and an employee came out as scheduled and did a wonderful job of not only installing my new unit and removal of my old unit, they did a top notch job of cleaning up.  Their costs were exactly what they quoted me (no one likes surprises).  There were very professional, came in a nicely marked vehicle, and introduced themselves upon arrival.  They answered all my questions I had and were meticulous in their work.  I especially like the system he provided me (Westinghouse) and explained the warranty to my satisfaction.

I have already given them permission to use me as a reference and have also hired them to do the servicing of both my Goodman main package unit that services my downstairs and the new Westinghouse system that services upstairs.  They have my highest recommendation!

"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. "Mr. Coffee is a hero who risks his health daily to help mitigate dangerous radon problems for strangers who call for help. This is a dangerous job with daily high radon exposure and when I asked, he said he is aware of the risks but gets his health scanned multiple times a year. I called Covenant Air back in December after noticing that my Safety Siren Pro radon detector kept reaching alarm. Mr. Coffee came out and assessed that I could probably fix the problem myself by sealing some obvious cracks, especially around some pipes, and recommended the products so that I can do it cheap DIY. He was obviously not pushy to scare people into signing contracts, but actually tried to dissuade me from hiring him right off on installing sub slab depressurization. Although the DYI route he recommended would've been cheaper, I hired him to performs the job. The sealing did bring the radon level down where my detector's alarm didn't go off, but I wanted to lower it as much as possible. He then recommended a passive ventilation route given my reading. The passive ventilation again slashed the radon level in half, but I wanted the radon level down even further, so I ultimately opted to install the fan after weeks of data collection and analysis. He installed the fan so that I could easily turn it off to save energy based on seasonal variations. He is a very personable and methodical person, and prefers to monitor the progress of his work so that his customers don't hastily incur unnecessary cost. You almost never see someone like that in the service industry, and I cannot recommend him highly enough.
