"I have used American Professional Chimney and Masonry on three different occasions and I am very happy with the work and the service. They are my "go to". I had the upper 40% of my chimney rebuilt, I had chimney liners installed, and I recently had a couple of smart solutions done to prevent smoke from going up and out of one flue, and down the one right next to it. I'm confident that this problem has been eliminated in advance of the upcoming fall/winter wood burning season. I will continue to use APCM for maintenance."

Customers say: True professional

"Very well. I burn 3-5 cords of wood per year and it is essential that I have a clean flue to prevent chimney fires. Jamie was prompt, courteous and did a very professional job. Would definitely hire again next year."

"Two man crew. Crew was here for about three hours for the repair work (counting set up and take down time, plus one person left for a while to get supplies). Can't tell how the repair work looks on the cap as I haven't climbed up there to look at it. On the other work, I probably would have scrapped away some of the moss growth on the chimney before acid washing it. I didn't think about it beforehand, but it only took me 5 minutes to scrap it off afterword. Decent amount of either acid wash or waterproofing sprayed on side windows, had to clean it off. Forgot to ask them to fill out a Fairfax County vent/chimney certification form required for getting a gas insert installed. Called up, told them I would send them the form. Sent it via email. Didn't hear back, so emailed again. Never heard back. So, now I have to get someone else to come out top inspect and certify vent/chimney."

"We had been told by a home inspector and another chimney sweep/repair company that we needed to replace our damper with a new lock-top damper requiring an adapter - a costly repair on our budget.   Prior to committing to the repair, we called A&T to come out and give us a second opinion.  Dennis from A&T evaluated our chimney and determined that the damper was basically fine but just a little rusty.   They applied some oil to the damper so it would move more freely and that was that.
Not only did they save us hundreds of dollars on a repair we didn't need, they charged $0 for the visit and the (admittedly minor) work.  Dennis also pointed out another important repair that was needed - the heat reflecting panels that line the inside of the fireplace were cracked, which is a potential fire hazard.  This hadn't even been mentioned by the home inspector or the other chimney company.
So although I can't judge the quality of their work beyond applying a bit of oil, I can attest to their courtesy, integrity and professionalism and say that  from now on, I will call them first for all of my chimney needs.

"I have invested in residential real estate for more than 30 years.  Renovating kitchens and bathrooms has been a regular part of the marketing process.  Since Stone Depot opened 6 years ago, I have relied on them to complete 15 or more such projects.  In each case, Nick Pappas, the owner and every member of his team, have consistently demonstrated a degree of professional concern, attention to detail, and quality control that always met or exceeded my demanding expectations.  And I have never experienced shoddy workmanship, cost overruns, or scheduling problems.  Indeed, when a project presented a special challenge such as an unusually small space or imperfectly constructed walls, Nick actually supervised the cabinet or counter installation.  I would strongly recommend Stone Depot to anyone planning such a project.  L. "A few weeks after purchasing a Big Deal coupon, I visited Granite Worksof Maryland to select a piece of granite for my vanity top. I told Art that the vanity was white and I wanted a granite remnant that would contrast with the white but nothing too exotic. Surprisingly Art found a remnant that met all of my requirements after only 15 minutes of searching. We then discussed amount of overhang, shape of sink, and bevel type and he finally instructed me in what measurements I needed to provide him before fabrication could start. There was a bit of miscommunication on the measurements but I was able to send him a diagram of the vanity dimensions and how it was situated with respect to the bathroom walls so that fabrication could take place.
When the vanity top was installed and I polished the stone, I just had to marvel at the quality of the stone. To me it looked like it had come from the Queen's bathroom in Windsor Castle. I had looked at a few remnant suppliers but Granite Works Big Deal price was by far the lowest. Art and Bruno know their stone.
I will point out that the Big Deal did not include a technician coming to my residence to take the necessary measurements, the delivery of the vanity top to my residence, and the installation of the vanity top, back splash, and side splash or anyplumbing parts installation."

"The technicians redid the bricks so that you couldn't even tell they were repaired. It looked beautiful. They put in a new liner in the chimney and waterproofed it. They redid the inside of the fireplace to bring it up to code and put in a chain that easily opens and closes the flue. It looks so good and easy that I may decide to use the fireplace again. They redid the pipes in the basement so the fumes from the boiler and hot water heater went up the chimney in the correct way. There had been water damage and they corrected the damage and closed off the hole in the wall (foundation) and made a bigger hole in the correct place so that everything was up to code. They were polite, efficient and worked very hard to get the work done in the promised two days. I have interviewed many companies and found this company to be straight-forward in telling me what they would do and didn't try to tell me they were giving me a "good deal." Rather I feel they gave me an honest estimate on what needed to be done and didn't try to pressure me into using their company. They did give me 10% off because I was an Angie's List customer. What company to use was a hard decision for me because I knew nothing about chimney repair. Because so much of the repair was inside the chimney I couldn't tell what they had done. Based on my experience I feel they did a good job. I don't have a picture of the repaired chimney but it looks great--better than it did before the bricks fell. If someone wants more detail I can copy exactly what they did from the invoice. Also, maybe the company can show a picture of the finished product. Since it is summer time I haven't had any experience using the chimney but will let you know how things work out during the winter."
