Will definitely call them back in a couple years for the dryer vent (didn't know it was such a hazard). We quoted three companies to replace our old HVAC system. I asked two companies that I knew, or got referrals on, and I needed a third to round out my quoting process. I called Vitt based on the good Angie's List reviews I read, not knowing anything about them other than they looked good on Angie's List. Jeff Vitt came out and we talked about what I wanted and needed to improve our A/C needs and also reduce our energy bills . He recommended a system that was more efficient than the other companies suggested systems, and the equipment he suggested was rated higher in consumer reports than the other company's suggested equipment as well. PLUS, his pricing was better which made the choice a no-brainer for me. The installation was performed on time and done better than I hoped. For this large purchase on which I did a lot of homework, Vitt was excellent. I was a little nervous never having used them before, but I am very pleased with the service, knowledge, performance and overall value I received from them. Don't be swayed by the big name companies in town.  These guys know their stuff and do a great job at a great price. I highly recommend them for any HVAC needs.

"Last December, on one Friday early evening, I noticed my heating system was not working and it was very cold. I called PHCS services and they sent a technician Saturday morning to diagnose the issue. FYI, I am a handyman and fix a lot of things around my house, but I don't have the right tools for this service and don't like to do anything with gas pipes. I watched the technician doing his work and realized he is an expert. He checked everything and was able to detect that the gas valve was the culprit. He also recommended replacing the pressure switch. He explained to me what was happening and even showed me how the failure was triggered. In addition, he checked the whole system and even recommended me to install two carbon monoxide detectors, one by the heating system and one on the first floor by the bedrooms. I haven't bought and installed them yet - mea culpa. He didn't have the parts in his truck, but he said, Monday morning another technician would come with the parts and replace them. Before leaving, he explained to me that I could turn on the heating system for a few minutes to heat the house until the pressure valve would fail. After that, I would need to wait sometime and then could turn on the system again. I followed his instructions and was able to stay and sleep in a warm house on Saturday and Sunday. As promised, Monday morning, another technician came over, replaced the parts, and made the necessary calibrations. Few days later, I received an email with the bill, which was very reasonable, and so far my heating system is working like a champ. It is nice to know that there are still good and honest people in this world."

"First the owner of NPM Heating and Cooling (Andrew) came by and spent nearly two hours in my home doing a thorough inspection of the furnace for carbon monoxide leaks, etc. He ran the furnace for awhile and checked all areas of the home with a hand-held carbon monoxide detector as well as other tests on the furnace itself. He found 0% evidence of carbon monoxide and the furnace was functional when he left. However, since my home had no carbon monoxide detectors installed, Andrew cautioned me to make sure and install some before using the furnace.
A week or so later after I had installed the detectors, the furnace began to make a loud noise. So I called Andrew back and after our conversation he felt there was a good chance that the blower motor was going out. Since I know I'll be replacing the entire HVAC system within the year, I hated investing much into the old furnace, but needed to buy time.
Within a week, one of the NPM technicians was here and completed the repair with a used blower motor at less than half the cost of a new one. He was also in my home for nearly two hours and the total cost for all this service was $190.
The furnace and AC in my home are so old (installed in 1988) that I'm actually fortunate that they have lasted this long. I do plan to have the entire HVAC systems replaced within the year, and NPM will do that job. The efficient and reasonably priced repairs were a godsend, as I needed some time right now to gather up the funds to invest in replacing the HVAC systems.
Very professional and knowledgeable. I especially appreciate their honesty. They told me the truth after other contractors did not. A+
