Patti, was friendly, quick to respond to requests, overall great customer rep for the company...made selecting Pro Star as our provider very easy.  The tech, Robert was friendly, courteous, helpful, conscience and explained in detail what he was going to do before he did it when replacing the RO system.  They didn't as many companies will do try to upsell anything and as any good tech he also viewed our water softener was a very old one (over 17 years old, not even in market any longer) and simply offered a brochure of their systems, highlighting some of the advantages to include their service whenever we might need it.  There was no arm twisting or hard sells involved from either Patti or Robert. 

After review and further discussions, we decided to go with their system, Puronics and added the water softener to the contract.  As I always do, I asked for better pricing and since we were buying both a water softener and RO system...they were more than accommodating, giving us a better deal than I even expected.  A+ in my book.

"We determined that Air Care Today was the best company from the four estimates that we received for replacing our two air conditioners/heating systems. The cost of the two systems was very reasonable and their attentiveness to the customer experience was outstanding. Our experience started with the office staff that scheduled a home visit for a quote. We had several contacts with the staff and they were always very professional and helpful. The salesman that came to the house was very knowledgeable and listened to what we wanted and made suggestions that would enhance the systems. He explained the warranty in detail and the company’s yearly service contract. The installers were prompt and did an outstanding job. "Awesome! I call to have my sump pump replace/repaired, I know the old one was not working properly. John looked at it an told me what was needed. Replaced that OLD sump pump cleaned out the trash in the well of the sump pump also. Installed the new one for a good price, he quoted me first before he started the job. I will call him again. "Hi everyone I've been meaning to post about my experience of replacing my 3 HVAC systems over the summer. I have a really old home that had 3 HVAC systems that were between 18-25 years old each. Each slowly failed over the summer one by one requiring me to replace them all. They all ran on the old R22 refridgerant which is unbelievably expensive to refill locally unless you buy it online. We had gotten some bids last year 2017 and were quoted 25k-30k by different companies. We needed to replace a 2 ton, 2.5 ton, and 3.5 tons HVAC system. This past summer I took 4 bids on a Friday. I requested bids for the lowest cost system at 14 SEER. ARS Rescue Scooter gave me a bid $19990 for 14 SEER Carrier Sears gave me a bid of $21113 for 14 SEER Kenmore Abacaus gave me a bid of $28000 for 14 SEER Church gave me a bid of $30412 for 14 SEER Trane I'm probably similar to everyone else as this is not my area of expertise and I rely on other people to give me a fair bid, relying that they're being truthful and fair. That first day all of these people continued to hover in my home hoping to be the last one to give their sales pitch. They all tried the pressure tactic that if I didn't sign that day they wouldn't be able to guarantee that they could install it this week. It felt very similar to buying a used car and incredibly annoying. They all also said if I found a better price they would match it. I took the weekend to think it over and did some research. Turns out the HVAC units themselves only run $2000-$4000 each depending on what brand at 14 SEER. Therefore it should have only run about $6000 to $12000 for the 3 units I needed. The rest of the cost was for labor. People were charging me $8000-$18000 for labor!!! Looking into what went into labor, it consists of adding duct work, installing air handlers, installing the HVAC systems. I only needed the air handlers installed in their preexisting space and needed no additional duct work added to the current systems so I couldn't figure out how they justified $8-18k for labor. The following Monday, I took additional bids, but this time I let each HVAC company know to just give me the bid and to leave my home as soon as possible. I also let them all know that I already had multiple bids from Friday and had more coming on that day and to give me their best price. Village Plumbing gave me a bid of $23403 for 14 SEER Lennox H-Town gave me a bid of $14700 for 14 SEER Rheem Courtesy Air gave me a bid of $14380 for 14 SEER Ameristar Texas Air Repair gave me a bid of $11800 for 14 SEER Ameristar or Goodman Eventually I decided on Henry from Texas Air Repair even though other companies said they would match or better the offer. I personally think that people who give their best offer up front should be rewarded, not people who high ball you then drop their price $50 below the best bid you find after the fact. I upgraded the brand that I purchased and ended up purchasing a 2 Ton, 2.5 Ton, and 3.5 Ton 14 SEER Trane units from Texas Air Repair for $13500. I have been happy with the quality and the professionalism displayed by Texas Air Repair so and would highly recommend in the future. I definitely learned a lot about HVACs and hope this experience helps someone else out there from getting gouged."

"I will not be using Tasco again for my air conditioning needs. I recently agreed to have them replace a faulty expansion valve in my relatively new system, which they had installed. The expansion valve was free (a warrantied product). They used 2 lbs. of freon. They also installed a $38 dollar dryer. The two technicians spent a total of 1 hour and 13 minutes to complete the work. The estimate to complete the work was $1200.00. You would think that this company would cut me a better deal for warranty work. Upon completion of the work, I requested an itemized bill. Later that day, the owner stated they do not give out itemized bills and that he charges a flat rate for his services. After arguing wth him for a short time he stated that because I agreed to his estimate there was nothing to argue about. If you charge a flat rate why would there be an estimate? When I started using Tasco, they had an A rating- it is now down to a B. Do yourself a favor and go with a better company that is cheaper. Make sure you get an itemized bill. You can look up the cost of every part online. I never minded paying a premium for good service, but this is ridiculous."

"Prior "tune up" service provider apparently messed up the hvac and then tried to sell me a replacement scenario over $3000 or a new unit for over $4000.  Next Service guy, as above noted, explained all the problems and the disconnected wiring left by the prior folks, and said it could be fixed for around $200, but it cost $410 as indicated above.  I do not think he arbitrarily increased his bill--just found more stuff that needed fixing than originally contemplated, and had to make a second trip out with one of the parts needed.

"Technician arrived within the time quoted by scheduler. Completed assessment. Gave report and explained issues well. Gave options on whether to repair or replace system. Searched for available discounts and assisted with financing. Very professional yet personable. New efficient system to be installed very next day! Altogether, excellent service."

"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."

"Called and asked them to bring and install a thermal couple on a gas water heater, because pilot light would not stay on. They sent a Master Plumber, who looked at the pilot light and said it would not stay lit and Tried to sell me a new water heater. They then sent 2 plumbers, took 5 minutes to replace TC. Water Heater works fine now. Cost $205 not $1600 for a new heater."
