"Strongly recommend getting an energy audit completed on your home, especially when it's complimentary, thank you, Paul! There were quite a few items that needed attention in our home. The technicians Justin and Fernando were solid. They arrived on time, did a great job, were polite, and were very clean. They took before and after pictures, which shows how much I needed the work done. We went with the insulation to ensure it was at least 18 inches, the duct sealing of the junction boxes and HVAC unit, and we had to reroute the bathroom vent. We even did the optional UV-C light, which makes us feel much safer and takes a load off, especially in this current environment of being conscious of germs and all. Great technicians, great company, and solid work. Highly recommend Justin and Fernando :) The email and text reminder game is on point."

"German Agudelo was very professional and incredibly knowledgeable. He and his team did an excellent job. They caulked all my windows, plumbing pipes under sinks, and made sure my doors were well insulated. They also checked my ducts, A/C and heating units, and installed my attic insulation. They certainly did a lot more than I expected. I found him through the Oncor program and looked at reviews through Angie's List. I would highly recommend him to friends, family, and neighbors because of the thorough job he did in my home. It didn't hurt that Oncor sent out a representative to inspect his work, which produced a positive review. My home feels much cooler because of all the energy efficient work this company has done. I can't wait to see my electric bill drop."

"Owner mike came over the previous week to do an energy audit. Found we only had about 8 inches insulation and only passive vents to purge heat from attic. decided to add R49 insulation and add a solar powered attic fan. Work went great! Two of his crew started the following week. They were here pretty early in the AM and finished by mid-afternoon. Friendly guys. Took a look at their work (blown in insulation) and it look very uniform and nice and thick. Could hear the attic fan running so I know that works."

"They were one of the best companies we've ever used to upgrade or renovate the home.  They had an outstanding crew.  They sent out 4 or 5 guys.  It was tough, hot work they were doing. They removed and replaced all our old attic insulation and blew in all new.  They installed this radiant barrier that stops and retains the heat in the attic.  They just did an excellent job.  And what they did works.  That's what the important part was.  It was a messy job but they didn't mess up the house.  They cleaned up after themselves.  They were hard working guys. They were fabulous. I don't think you'll find a better company that does what they do. That was the employees that they sent. The pricing was fine.  They were originally going to do just installation but then added removal for not much more. The folks that checked the job came out a few different times during the job.  The home is more comfortable and better insulated.  It's changed the whole feel of the home."

"I heard about ACT Home Energy Specialists from a neighbor of my boyfriend's mother, so I called Ricky to have my old home evaluated. Am I ever grateful for his time and efforts: he was here on time and promptly kept me abreast of ALL of the problems with my house (and there were a ton), from air coming through outlets to a significant lack of insulation in the attic and gaps in walls. He took photos of all the areas for improvement to easily illustrate problem areas. After running tests, he emailed me an estimate for repairs, which was very reasonable considering the size of the job. At first, we said he didn't have an open time to return till next week, but then he had a cancellation and returned to work the same day, doing most of all the approved repairs, including filling the attic with insulation. Ricky was here a good seven hours! Understandably, he had to schedule me to come back for the rest; I offered to pay him half the charge for this work, but he insisted that I wait to ensure my happiness with his work, which I appreciate. So polite, thorough, and hard-working! Very impressed! <br />"

"These guys were awesome. They weatherized my home by caulking windows and doors. Also added a door sweep to my front door. Found major leakage around my newly re-done fireplace. They then ran an air-leak audit and explained to me what was good/bad and left me with a tube of caulk for the future. Highly recommended. <br />"

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Fort Worth, TX

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
