"Jody Ramon and Brian Owens were the lead men and Justin, a supervisor, and Nick Ecker, a salesperson were active members of this team. Cody helped install the 2nd day. Each of these men were more than I could ever expect. They did their part of the process and worked personally to service us as if we were family. They dealt with every concern we had, worked steadily for 2 and 1/2 full days, and left our home in better condition than they found it. The protected our carpets and cleaned up at the end of each work day. We have had an ongoing service relationship with Airco for over 10 years. So far, every person Airco has ever sent us has really serviced us outstandingly well. However, this removal and installation was over the top!! We really are pleased. The final chapter of the process will be schedule for next Wednesday when the Airco technician and the Sand Springs code inspector makes their final visit. Be sure to note that Jody and Brian have to be 2 of your very best crew members. Chris Holmes was our service man for several years but he now is doing commercial accounts for Airco. Jerry Evans, I believe his name is, now services our HVAC on a twice a year contract we have with you. Chris and Jerry are local Sand Springs residents and have really done our work well over the time period we have used Airco. But, this week with the men mentioned above has just been super!! They did everything and more than was ever promised. So far, we are really please with this big upgrade. For us, it was an extremely major decision and it went so well, thanks to this team that came together on our project!! We are so very grateful!!"

"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."

"I had 2 units installed, 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs.  I called 8 different contractors out for bids, of those 8 only about 4 got back with me on a price.  ABest gave me a price the day they came out, Mike & Shane gave me a fair price.  They beat the lowest price of the others by $1000.00.  My house was built in 1994, both upstairs and downstairs had the origiinal furnace, upstairs had the original A/C System, downstairs had the outside condenser unit replaced in 2001 by the previous owner.  Since we were going up in size from a 3 Ton to 3.5 Ton we needed a new return air vent, but the way our house was built it was difficult to find an appropriate place.  We had decided from the bids we got from the previous companies that the family room was the only place to add the 2nd return, but that would increase the noise in that room since the other return was there as well.  When Rob & Jason, our installers, showed up and we told them where the return was to go, they did not think that was a good idea, which we agreed, but said we have no other option.  Rob took the initiative and explored every option, he asked if it was okay to cut a hole in our wall to see if he could get access to the attic to put in extra duct work.  We agreed, and are we every glad we did.  This option was able to put the return in another part of the home helping the system work more efficiently and quietly.  Rob even called Dennis, the owner, out to get his opinion and approval to make sure this was the best option for us, taking 3 hours of his install time (they do not work by the hour, they work by the job).  He could have just cut the return air vent in the family room like everyone else said was the only option and we would have not been the wiser, but he, Jason, and Dennis wanted to do what was best for us, not just was the quickest and easiest for them.  ABest Air & Heat hires salesman with integrity, installers with knowledge and attention detail, and has an owner that stands behind their work. WE ARE VERY PLEASED THAT WE CHOSE ABEST AIR & HEAT!!! We will not hire any one else for our heating and cooling needs from here on out.

"Choice was fast, efficient, and kept me posted on the progress of the claim. Although the water leak issue was discovered on a Friday, they had a plumber there to investigate by Saturday morning. When it was determined that the 20+ year old heater needed to be replaced, the replacement ordered, on-site, and installed by Wednesday morning. I am glad that we opted for the Choice Ultimate plan as other than the initial $65 service fee, all but one $50 ancillary expense was covered."

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Inola, OK

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
