"Our hot water heater began leaking from inside of the unit.  The existing unit was very old and needed to be replaced.  After researching Angie's List, I made a purchase for a replacement hot water heater with Henson Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing.  Henson Mechanical reached out to me later that day to schedule my replacement, and to verify information about my existing setup.  They were able to send an installer out the very next day.
Prior to his visit, Kurt Schmeisser called to inform me that he would be the person to install the new water heater.  Kurt was prompt, and extremely professional.  During the removal of the old unit, and the installation of the new unit, Kurt made sure not to damage anything in my house.  He made sure to put down plastic over runs of carpet in my basement to ensure that it was not soiled.
Since it is now code, Kurt installed an expansion water tank.  This was included in the initial purchase price of the unit, and was not an unexpected and added expense.
Before he departed, Kurt showed me how to manipulate the temperature of the tank.  He then demonstrated how to ignite the pilot light if there was ever a need.
Through the entire process, Kurt was very polite and professional.  I would consider using Henson Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing for future projects.

"Jason Johnston and his staff were, and always have been, professional, more than competent and trustworthy! We had a major issue with the installation of our wood burning furnace by another local company, as well as that same company completely messing up our heat pump. "Jeff told me the foundation settling was very minor for a house built in the 1970's.  No water problems in basement.  He did recommend I have the gutters replaced, with 6" gutters, and to make sure water is draining away from house.  Also, he asked me to contact him if the foundation settled more in the future.  He did not do any work other than give me a free evaluation.  Jeff was very professional and honest. I will definitely use his company if I have anymore foundation or drainage issues.

"Good: Right on time, professional, and quickly changed out the springs. Concerning: Initial quote on the phone was anywhere between $59 and $189 to repair a broken spring plus service call fee. When technician arrived, it was recommended both springs be replaced, which makes sense but this was not mentioned on the initial estimate. Since the part number and length/gauge of spring details were left by the technician, I browsed for the same springs on line and found the pair at a third of the cost (>$100) but Ameriserv did not directly explain why the spring cost was so high compared to what I found online. I received one email reply after about a week later and it only asked if we had spoken via phone. After I replied to that response, I received no further communication. They also offered a warranty for the springs/door for $89 a year, but after five years, that equals the amount of replacing both springs. Typical life for a spring is about ten years, I did not see the benefit in a warranty at that price."
