"*AVOID THIS COMPANY: We had an extremely disappointing and concerning experience with H L Bowman and strongly caution others before using this company. That installation ultimately failed within a few years due to what a technician on a recent visit confirmed was an improper initial installation. Fast forward to our recent service call: a technician came out, diagnosed the issue, and quoted us over $700 to replace a simple hose bib with no additional parts required. After questioning the price, they ?discounted? it to $600. Feeling uneasy about the pricing, we asked them to stop the work so we could get a second opinion. Only then did the technician suddenly offer to honor the original 2019 price of $309?raising serious questions about where these pricing numbers were coming from and how such a drastic ?discount? could be offered on the spot. "I called Premier HVAC Services for a routine check-up, and they never showed up. After waiting 3 hours, they rescheduled for a week later without any apologies. Completely unprofessional and unreliable. I wouldn’t trust them with my HVAC needs."

FAQs for heat pump repair or service projects in Norwalk, CT

Heat pumps move air to cool or warm your home during different seasons. In cold weather, they extract heat from the outdoors and bring it inside to warm your home. In warm weather, they remove heat from your home to keep it cool. This efficient heat transfer increases indoor comfort, improves energy efficiency, and reduces the need for additional heating systems.

Replacing a heat pump costs between $4,200 and $7,900. The actual cost depends on the type of heat pump. Geothermal models are the most expensive to replace, with the price of the unit plus labor ranging between $6,000 and $20,000. Air source models cost between $4,500 and $8,000 to replace, while the replacement costs for a mini split unit run between $1,300 and $8,000.

The average heat pump is designed to last about 14 years, roughly the same as a central air conditioning system (12 to 15 years). Newer models can last 20 years or more. How long your heat pump lasts depends on how frequently you use it and whether you perform routine maintenance like annual tuneups.
