"They found the problem and ordered the new part. Only problem was after they installed the new valve I couldn't get the heat to turn off so I had to switch the breaker to get the furnace to turn off. When they came back to check the problem, the tech who replaced the bad part forgot to remove the device that prevents the furnace from talking to the thermostat. Now my furnace and thermostat talk to each other."

"Quick response with a bid on the work. Prompt answers to my follow-up questions. Could have installed in 2.5vweeks but scheduled it got 7 weeks because it fit better with our schedule. Installers completed the job in one day. Work was neat, clean, and complete. Everything works great so far. Recommended."

"The work ended up great, but they were not honest about backordered parts. They said they would not start until all parts were in (Covid-19 related issues) but then called to make an appointment. I took that to mean the parts were in. Then I find out after they were in the process of installing the system that the part wasn't in and wouldn't be for a while, and the project would only partially finished at that time. I had in the mean time paid them 60% down to start the job. Then they asked for the entire bill to be paid after the partial installation, but our contract clearly stated payment due upon completion. I agreed to pay all but $2000 because I sympathized with them needing working capital to continue in these difficult times, but it made me upset that they asked for the entire balance by saying "well now it looks like you owe us some money" instead of explaining their dilemma. Then the backordered part took a very long time and it became obvious that they knew it would, but that detail was never communicated to me. They asked for full payment for a job they knew couldn't be completed for over a month. Then I discover that no permits were obtained and no inspections scheduled. They were evasive about this when I asked, saying that is taken care of by Eddie, then Eddie saying that is Richard's responsibility. Hmm. That took another couple of weeks to iron out. But, the end result is that I have a great system, put in correctly, professionally and up to code, for several thousand dollars less than any other company was offering. These are difficult times and companies are trying to figure out how to make it, so I mostly understand, but I hope that in the future they are more straightforward about how things are going on their end, and communicate with their clients more openly. Would I recommend them? Yes I would."

"John & his brother Paul were great communicators. They came when they said they would. They were professional in all aspects of their work. We are very pleased with the install and with our minisplit system. I highly recommend Alpina Mechanical!"

FAQs for central humidifier installation and replacement projects in Olympia, WA

A crawl space dehumidifier is a worthwhile investment, particularly in humid climates or if you've noticed musty odors, mold growth, or wood deterioration. Though costs range from $3,000 to $9,200, this investment helps prevent structural damage that could require far more expensive repairs later. Beyond structural protection, a properly dehumidified crawl space contributes to better overall indoor air quality and may reduce allergens throughout your home. Consider having a professional assessment to determine if your specific situation warrants this investment.

Addressing crawl space moisture effectively often requires a combination of solutions. A complete approach includes encapsulation plus dehumidifier installation. For minor moisture issues, a basic dehumidifier starting at $1,500 may suffice, while severe problems in larger spaces could require systems costing up to $14,000. The most effective moisture control strategy depends on your specific conditions, making a professional assessment valuable for determining the most cost-effective approach for your situation.

For a crawl space measuring 1,500 square feet, you'll need a dehumidifier with a daily capacity of 30 to 50 pints, with unit costs ranging from $150 to $600. Your local climate and existing moisture levels may necessitate adjusting this capacity—homes in particularly humid regions might benefit from higher-capacity units. Professional installers can measure your specific humidity conditions and recommend equipment that is appropriately sized, balancing initial cost with operating efficiency for your unique situation.

Crawl space dehumidifiers add $300 to $500 to your annual electricity expenses when operating continuously. Energy-efficient models reduce this consumption by roughly 15 to 30% compared to standard units. Most contemporary dehumidifiers feature humidity sensors that automatically cycle operation based on current conditions, helping manage energy usage. Proper crawl space encapsulation significantly improves efficiency by creating a controlled environment that requires less dehumidifier runtime, thereby reducing ongoing electricity costs.
