"Chad was professional and knowledgeable. Our well pump needed replaced but there was something corroded so he had to bring a machine and dig 4 feet into my yard (in this cold weather!). He gave me an estimate beforehand and didn't smack me over the head. He got that machine into my yard within an hour and had the project complete in 4. I highly recommend for quality, professionalism and price. Thank you, Chad!"

"Matt was prompt and very thorough. He explained everything and made sure I understood how to support the pumps going forward. He also identified other items and left to get parts and replaced the same day. I would highly recommend."

"Went well to this point of replacing parts. Then the United needed to have a system leak test and then needed freon put in pump. This was refused by Choice warranty. We were left with a partial repair and a heat pump not able to do it's job."

"I should have asked to look at the toilet before it was installed. It is not comfortable--too small. I am going to replace it with a bigger one and use the one he installed in a rental home that I own. The plumber was polite, and efficient. He did a neat job. I do not like the toilet seat, but that is my fault. I should have asked more questions."

"My experience with them was good. They did a very nice job. They did what they said they'd do. They were neat, clean and when they were finished, the basement was dry, they put in some pump and everything's working fine."

"The last was a rental company that we have and we used them for an air conditioning and heating system. It was Bototach Mechanical. It’s been a good program for us. They’re very responsive. I don’t know what the thought process was. My husband said, well let’s try these guys and so we did. We have an older home and it’s proved to be a very good deal. The quality has been pretty good, so I would give them an A for the quality. I will give you one helpful hint though. If the company decides they want to replace an appliance, you need to call them and negotiate with them because you can upgrade, but you need to talk to them in person not just do it over the internet."

"I had a really good experience with Tom O'Connor. He scheduled quickly and arrived on time. He had me stay with him during the inspection and pointed out things as we went along. He showed me problem areas, explained why they were a problem, and suggested how to fix them. He also reviewed maintenance of things like the boiler and air conditioning. His report arrived on the day he said it would be complete. When he returned in a few days to pick up the radon test he also completed a portion of the inspection of the roof that he couldn't do initially because of snow. His report reflected everything we had talked about and did include the home maintenance points as well. And the report is easy to understand. He confirmed for me that I was getting a good, solid house and that the things that need to be fixed are manageable."

FAQs for well pump installation and replacement projects in Pittsburgh, PA

Signs that your well pressure tank requires replacement include inconsistent water pressure, your pump turning on and off frequently (known as short cycling), visible leaks around the tank, or unusual noises from your well system. Physical damage, corrosion, or a tank that's reached its seven to 10-year expected lifespan may also indicate it's time for replacement. When multiple issues arise simultaneously, replacement often proves more economical than attempting repairs.

The timeframe for professional well pressure tank replacement varies depending on your specific system and any complications that might arise during installation. Factors that can affect installation time include accessibility of your current tank, whether additional components need replacement, and the complexity of your well system. For precise timing expectations, consult with the professional handling your installation.

Attempting to replace your well pressure tank involves several potential risks, including improper pressure calibration that could damage your pump, contamination of your water supply, and physical injury from handling heavy equipment. Additionally, incorrect installation might lead to water leaks, property damage, or system inefficiency. Many manufacturers also specify that professional installation is required to maintain warranty coverage, making the $125 to $200 professional installation fee a worthwhile investment for most homeowners.
