"Great Job! We own a 3 story condo/town house built in the late 70's. It was difficult to keep warm in winter and cool in summer. Great variation between the 3 stories. In summer with heat set at 72 on the main floor in was 64 in the lower level and 87 on the third floor. Kellye came in and did a through job, spent more than 4 hours, and gave us both a verbal report and a written one. As result we hired an insulation company which followed her recommendations. We also had some minor adjustments to the HVAC, sped a fan up and put in a less fine filter. The result: 70 in the lower level, 72 on the main level and 77 in the upper level - even on the hottest days. We are very please. Kellye came back and did a retest and provided a follow up report. We are very grateful to her and await winter to see how much more comfortable our home will be. These few cool fall days have already shown a difference."

"The experience was excellent. He arrived a little bit early and spent quite a few hours auditing the airflow. He showed me a lot of stuff as he was doing it. He took pictures of where the air was escaping. He went down into the crawlspace and up into the attic. Within a couple of days he sent a detailed report with pictures and recommendations. It was very good. He is coming back in September to review the changes that I have made. He is also available to work with companies that are doing the work. I have emailed him a couple of times. He attached a checklist of what each type of company can do. He was very thorough and is going to be real helpful. The price would have been $50 less if he had not had to travel so far. It was a decent price for all the work that he did. He knew what he was doing and has apparently been doing it for a while. He also has done some classes. He drove up in a Prius so he believes in energy efficiency."

"The entire inspection took about three hours. He came out and inspected my home. When the inspection was done he sat down with me and told me where I was losing a lot of energy and offered a list of suggestions for how I can conserve energy. He also offered a list of things I could do to stop heat from escaping. I was pleased with their service. I thought that they did a good job. They charge by the square foot."

"I was totally satisfied with this Company from the beginning to the end. I scheduled an appointment and was seen right away. A representative came to my home and assessed what I needed to have done. The price was reasonable and the work was completed in a timely fashion. I would recommend this Company in a HEARTBEAT!! Thanks for ALL that you DO!!"

"<p>The energy audit was comprehensive allowing us to prioritize decisions and investments to make the home more energy efficient.  (Mo Ameren is raising rates a double digit rates to comply with new govt. regulations.)  Daniel?s price for an energy audit is higher than other companies because he is not using the energy audit to sell insulation or HVAC services; i.e. it is not a loss leader. He is certified and experienced in home energy efficiency, in fact he gets excited about the topic.   I used him after the energy audit at a reasonable rate to perform consulting to direct the insulation, HVAC, and window upgrade key decisions.  As a result, I understand what is needed and am in a better position to engage the various companies in an informed manner.  We are not completely finished with implementing the energy upgrades, but making progress.  Daniel is honest and knowledgeable.     We are very satisfied with the work.  </p> <br />"

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Saint-Louis, MO

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
