I had found the mechanism online priced at $108 (with $13 shipping). It would have arrived after my desired time frame, so I expected the locksmith would have a local resource from which to purchase at a wholesale price in a more timely manner. I expected that price to be about $60; certainly less than $100. However, I was told the locksmith paid $179! This didn't seem reasonable. Also, I did not receive an itemized receipt, only a total. After expecting to pay perhaps $150, I was actually charged almost TWICE that. So although I was happy with the work, I was certainly not happy with the price."

The door color and wood grain appearance look as good now when it was new. The refinishing process requires that the door be removed and laid out on sawhorses. The work was all done in my front yard. I have a storm door, so no temporary sheeting was necessary. If it had not started raining, the whole process would have been completed in about 6 hours."
