"Our tenants informed us that they were without heat. When we went to check we realized that one of the gas-heating unit was out and would not relight. We immediately called the plumber who, on Monday night, informed us that there was no problem with the unit and the cause was probably a blockage in the chimney. On Tuesday we were going to have polar temperatures and I was really worried about the tenants welfare, so in spite of the late hour, I placed an emergency call to Mark Jameson and they promised to be there the next morning. By the time they arrived the next morning, the other heating unit had shut off too and when they opened up the chimney it was totally collapsed and needed to be rebuilt and relined from top to bottom (5 floors). They gave me what I thought it was a reasonable estimate and upon my approval they performed the job. By that evening they had completed the work and the heat was working in all the apartments.
I was extremely pleased with the service and the work. They left a bit of a mess on the floors, which was totally understandable considering the urgency of restarting the heat asap in all the rented units and the fact that they had to constantly go in and out of the house with snow and ice on the ground and had to go on the roof which was also covered with snow. 
I was very thankful for their promptness and thrilled to have the heat back for my tenants in such a short time in spite of major damage to the chimney.

I purchased a "repair special" and didn't learn until I had purchased it that the repair service was located in theBronx and the repair was needed in Clifton, NJ.  When the repair service responded, I asked if there was a problem with the service needed in New Jersey and was told no.  It took over 2 weeks to schedule the repair.  When the repair was made, I was not there, but the person who was there called me and told me that there was an additional charge.  I authorized it (I had left a blank check with the person), but stressed that I wanted a copy of the repair bill for my records.  I have made three requests to the repair person, and still have not received it.   My disappointment isn't with the repair that was done, but rather with the difficulty making an appointment and the lack of response for the copy of repair bill.  In the future, if responding to any of Angie's "specials", I will first ascertain the location of the service provider before purchasing it.

"I have a wood-burning fireplace that I don’t use to burn wood. I have an electric insert instead. But the flue would not stay closed. Last winter was very very drafty in my living room. I reached in and tried to fix it myself but did not have the tools or the ability but the gentleman from Fixed and Fair had both. He was here just a short time and did not charge me anything. I would recommend this company highly. (But would like to suggest they put their address on their business cards. I had to look it up on Google to enter this review above!)"
