Comment: About a month ago I had a blockage in the main line into the septic. The top of the clean-out had been left loose and there was a thick layer of scum in the opening. I removed the scum and snaked out the line. using a pole with a 4X4X1" piece of wood on the bottom i checked for solid levels in the bottom on each side of the baffle, there was almost none. Did the same about 2 weeks ago and got same result. Today I went to cut the lawn. The grass over the septic tank was almost 6 inches higher than surrounding grass and when i went to cut it all the grass ripped out and left a wet muddy spot. Also when i was checking the solid levels a round green hoop came out about the size of the manhole cover. It looked like it may have been part of an old opening which had been replaced and dropped in. Not sure on that one. we are considering doing a 203k streamlined loan to cover repairs.
