"I needed it fixed immediately, as the heat was dropping rapidly in the house. I called my usual company that I've used for years, and was told that no one could service my furnace until "maybe tomorrow". Not good enough. I'm hearty but not going without heat for two days. I called Peterman and they sent a rep, Jason, out in a couple of hours. Jason was great, and happy to explain what was going on. Fried circuit board. He had to go get one, but he replaced it, did a cleaning, replaced our filter with a better one, and was on his way. Jason was great, knew his business, and I will call again. After he left, I later saw the receipt, which was emailed to me. It was quite vague; I was charged for "1 unit" of this and that. No prices. I want to know exactly what I am being charged for each item, not just a total. It is also flummoxing that it cost an additional $20 to pay a year's contract up front than to pay monthly. This is mind-boggling. No one is allowed to auto-debit my checking account. I pay in full. Other than these small issues unrelated to the repair itself, all went well."

"It has gone well for over fifteen years. I have rarely had to call them. When I have needed to call, they have been responsive. In 2000 I joined the Boston Oil Consumers Alliance (BOCA), (now called Mass Energy) to save money on heating oil. BOCA said the dealer would be Genove. Since then, Genove has consistently filled the oil tank before it ran out, and charged me the price negotiated by Mass Energy. Genove has also done annual service on the oil burner. During a big home renovation, they inspected the oil tank and convinced us that it was in good shape and need not be replaced. When a new porch covered the oil fill point, they installed piping to relocate it."

This was important to me because the boiler sits below our family room, and the noise level of the boiler was as issue. His proposals listed several boiler options, based on heating efficiency, which were competitively priced. The installation was run by Steve, who was able to fit in the installation the next week. Steve, and his crews, were punctual and courteous, and the installation went smoothly. It's only been a week, but I am very pleased with my Bosch boiler, the quality of the work, the price paid, and the timeliness of the installation."

"UIC was quick to respond and come up with the quote. Quote was very competitive against others. They were not so eager to do service on my old water heater though (I asked them to replace anode rods). I decided to go with them since their availability was good (2wks) and ratings on AngiesList were excellent while price was competitive. The job went well, though not without hiccups. I was expecting new boiler to be placed on the wall next to the foundation; though they built a new wall in the middle of the mechanical room, which costed me space; they said it will be 3K more to put in on the wall AFTER they arrived on the job with all the equipment and team. They refused to drain old water from my radiant heat system, saying I need a plumber to come for $290 per hour for 4 hours to drain the system and look for preexisting leaks. Had to hire some other plumber who took care of the problem for $215 in a mere hour. After the project was complete, system started to experience leaks. It was due to new drain connector that they decided to use for this project, and I was apparently first customer for it. After 3 unsuccessful attempts to fix the leak, they had to replace the connector, which addressed the issue. In addition, the system was eligible for rebate; however the rebate amount promised ended up being $450 less than actually paid; they quoted natural gas rebate though my system was on propane, which I told them upfront."

A second technician, replaced the defective parts and serviced the boiler. Both technicians performed their work in a very professional manner, identified the source of the problem and clearly explained what was needed. I was impressed with their work and would definitely hire them again."

"I purchased an Angie's special for a whole house surge-supression device, installed.  I called the day I purchased the service and I was able to get an installation date right away.  I was surprised how easy it was to get a date that was convenient for me.  Eric showed up on the date scheduled and right on-time.  The installation was pretty routine and Eric took the time to explain what the device was and how it works.  The component is not an expensive unit, but should be installed by a licensed electrician since it does require wiring inside the panel.  I felt the Angie's List special was a good price based on other quotes I had gotten for the same work.While he was doing the installation, I asked him to quote me some additional electrical work.  I wanted to install a transfer switch for an emergency generator.  We discussed the layout and the device in quite detail.  We discussed each component down to the cable ends and how we can make the system upgradable if I choose to purchase a larger generator in the future.The quote for this work was slightly higher than I had gotten from other electricians, but I was more comfortable with Markarian based on the discussions I had with Eric and the parts that he selected for the job.  In addition Markarian has a history of installing generators and panels, I believe more commercial than residential.  Others I interviewed were doing installation, but seemed to do mainly residential and only recently.  I liked that Markarian had this experience.  I hired them for this job as well and again I was able to pick the day convenient for me.Two employees showed up that day (I forget their names) a few minutes late, but they went right to work.  They asked some basic questions but they had the scope of work and the parts.  The installation went smoothly and lasted about as long as they had estimated.  The finished product was exactly what I had asked for.  The installation looks neat and professional.  Before the employees left, they made sure I knew how to use my generator (I had purchased it myself and prior to the installation) and how to connect it to the system and power up the circuits.The challenge came with the work permit.  When I had the work spec'ed out, I asked for permits to be pulled for the work.  Markarian took on that role.  At the end of the job an inspection is required to close out the job.  Julie had an extremely difficult time to get this scheduled but she stayed on it.  She also kept me in the loop the entire time.  It dragged on for quite some time, but I got the final inspection and Eric was on-site the day of the inspection which made me happy.  So kudos to Julie for putting up with my local town hall and my constant phone calls and e-mails.Won't you know it, since I have had the system installed I have not had the occasion to use it.  Don't get me wrong, I prefer it that way.  But I rest better knowing I have a system I can rely on.Markarian is not really local, but they are willing to travel.  I would not hesitate to call them for additional work."
