"We hired Guardian to install our security system at our Washington, DC, business. The service and quality of the work was horrible. We had cameras and an alarm system installed; it was a relatively large system. They outsource most of the work to various vendors. They could not manage their vendors; what was supposed to take a week took two months. The sales rep did not return calls, and you could never get anyone in management on the phone. Random people would show up at unannounced times. The few things that an actual Guardian employee did were they made a huge mess of our newly remodeled office and were rude to our staff. We have offices in five markets across the US and have high security at each; we have never had such a poor experience."

"I made the call after reading the reviews. My call was answered promptly, we scheduled a time and date. The locksmith arrived within the agreed upon time window. I explained what we needed and he got right to work. He was polite and professional. He finished the job in a half hour or so. I'm very pleased with the work and the experience."

"My safe wouldn't open they said a couple of drill holes and it will be easy. Guy showed up. Spent 6 hours cut dial and another large hole in safe still didn't open. I asked him. To see if we can push safe and maybe take pressure off one side and it opened. Destroyed safe . They offered another safe then said no they will have a welder come and weld cut off prices on. I said that won't do it and asked for 1st option, replace safe. Then they sent letter from attorney for payment. These guys suck."

"On the Dec, 30. 2019, at 11:10 am, I phoned and spoke with Rebecca. I told her that I wanted a deal bolt lock installed on my patio gate. I needed to leave home before 2 pm. At 11:40 am, Eddie, locksmith, arrived. By 11:55 am, he had installed lock and had it keyed same as other house keys. I chose this company because they had over 100 positive reviews, they offered 24 hours service on some days, and accepted all forms of payments. AAA discounts are available for some services. I am glad that I chose this company, they provided prompt, professional, and personable service at a reasonable price."

FAQs for locksmith service projects in Colton, CA

The installation timeframe varies based on door preparation and lock complexity. For doors already prepared with appropriate holes, installation might take 15 to 30 minutes. New installations requiring drilling take one to two hours. First-time DIY installers should allocate additional time to ensure proper alignment and function. Professional locksmiths complete standard installations efficiently due to their specialized tools and experience.

Most residential doors can accommodate deadbolts, but certain door types present challenges. Solid wood and fiberglass doors accept standard deadbolt hardware, while metal doors require specialized drilling equipment. Hollow-core interior doors lack the structural integrity to properly support deadbolts without additional reinforcement. Doors should be at least 1⅜ inches thick to properly house standard deadbolt mechanisms.

Door warranties remain valid when deadbolts are installed according to the manufacturer's guidelines. However, improper installation that damages the door structure might affect warranty coverage.

Before modifying any door under warranty, review the documentation for specific limitations or requirements regarding hardware installation. Some manufacturers provide templates or guidelines for acceptable lock placement to maintain warranty protection.

Rekeying offers a more economical alternative to complete replacement when you need to change access, but the lock mechanism remains in good condition. This process involves reconfiguring the internal pins to work with a new key while retaining the existing hardware. For homeowners with multiple locks, rekeying provides the convenience of using a single key for all entry points while maintaining security.
