"It was A++ because they do what they say they do, they dont empty promises. They have a very old fashioned way of doing business. They already approach me even if i havent already tell them what i want. I go to them first than any other service. We have a nice relationship with them, they are very helpful to us in marketing for our local farmers market. they just blow my mind when they help us like that. Everyone should do their favor at wilsons hardware and locksmiths because they wont be dissapointed."

"When we needed to get all of our house locks re-keyed, we were referred to Rick by another locksmith who did not work on Saturdays. Rick took our call by 10:15, quoted an accurate price, arrived within the hour, and the work was completed by noon. Besides re-keying the locks, he made 8 keys for us and even made several door knobs and deadbolts work better than they have in years. Rick was professional and courteous. I would highly recommend him. <br />"

"The company was prompt in scheduling me. The day of the appointment I got stuck in traffic and was several minutes late. I was able to call the locksmith, and though he had had to "squeeze me in" to begin with, he was polite and generous in waiting for me to arrive. He re-keyed the locks and made them operate more smoothly, and answered my question about an internal lock. Good service."

FAQs for locksmith service projects in Philadelphia, PA

The installation timeframe varies based on door preparation and lock complexity. For doors already prepared with appropriate holes, installation might take 15 to 30 minutes. New installations requiring drilling take one to two hours. First-time DIY installers should allocate additional time to ensure proper alignment and function. Professional locksmiths complete standard installations efficiently due to their specialized tools and experience.

Most residential doors can accommodate deadbolts, but certain door types present challenges. Solid wood and fiberglass doors accept standard deadbolt hardware, while metal doors require specialized drilling equipment. Hollow-core interior doors lack the structural integrity to properly support deadbolts without additional reinforcement. Doors should be at least 1⅜ inches thick to properly house standard deadbolt mechanisms.

Door warranties remain valid when deadbolts are installed according to the manufacturer's guidelines. However, improper installation that damages the door structure might affect warranty coverage.

Before modifying any door under warranty, review the documentation for specific limitations or requirements regarding hardware installation. Some manufacturers provide templates or guidelines for acceptable lock placement to maintain warranty protection.

Rekeying offers a more economical alternative to complete replacement when you need to change access, but the lock mechanism remains in good condition. This process involves reconfiguring the internal pins to work with a new key while retaining the existing hardware. For homeowners with multiple locks, rekeying provides the convenience of using a single key for all entry points while maintaining security.
